Thanks guys! I am grateful for MTM, it’s a great place to share, both the good…

and the bad…

You knew this was coming, surely… I got on the scale this morning - not good… downer But instead of just getting depressed, and working out anyway...I just blew off my workouts today. I don’t usually have any problem working out regardless of how I feel, but today I was just too bummed to carry on…

I am not doing very well…

Tom is so smart! We’ve all had setbacks, even some that just don’t make sense. Is it possible that your body needs a break? Take a week off, watch your eating closely, and jump back in. I’m guessing, but its a thought.

Wanna join us on our road trip to play with Shawn’s new toy?  I’m so jealous.

Can you pick me up on the way to Shawn’s?  I’d be up for a road trip… he’s only about 5 hours away from me!!  Just be careful driving on the highways around Montreal!!

Deb - rest days are good every now and then.  I’ve had a few unscheduled ones reciently too.  I’ve had a hard time staying at my last weight goal and getting below it.  And I’ve totally sabatoged my diet this weekend.  I need to get back on track and not let the blues get to me.  Its a stumble, but now it’s time to get back up and keep going forward.  We can both do this.  Think about how you felt on your trip to the park.  You earned every inch of that smile on your face.  All your hard work in the last year made it possible for you to enjoy the day.  But the body does odd things.  We just need to keep doing the right things to have the trend on the scale downward.  It may wobble a bit every now and then is normal.

So now take a step and repeat!!  wink

Deb, I can definitely understand your funk about the weight. Just keep thinking about the day in the park and all you can now do that you couldn’t do before. And keep on moving. I need to get my eating better too and I’m going to be gone at intervals over the next two months so it’s going to be hard. But giving up isn’t an option. . . .

You’re right Joan, giving up is not an option…

And Bree, I understand your excitement over Shawn’s new toy, you’ve always said you wanted one! But I’m more interested in one of his old toys; I have a interest in his kettlebells! So since he’s got this new toy, you can sneak his old one into your purse for me!  LOL

Tom, thanks for the reminder, and the kind words. I must remember to remember patience, mustn’t I?

Catherine, thanks for the commiseration! With MTM’s help how can we help but succeed?

So, with your advice, I’m going to take a couple of days off, and try to remember Gooseberry Falls…

And I even volunteered to mow the yard this year, as Randy is really losing it, healthwise...not good…

I’m sorry to hear that Randy isn’t doing well. That has to be preying on your mind. So you definitely need to be in shape . .  . and you’re certainly working at it.

No problem, sneaking a kettlebell out of that party should be easy!

Enjoy your mini vacation. Do you have a good book you can read?

Joan, Randy got on the treadmill today! Even he has reached his limit…

Bree, I’ve been reading through a blog from a woman in her 40s who lost 120 pounds. She had the same kind of relationship with food that I do. It was very insightful reading. Her exercise of choice was kettlebells. I’m so tempted… I find them so intriguing!

Maybe Shawn could take a road trip and teach you a few things.... you up for it Shawn?  I’d certainly be interested to see what they are all about.

You have been thinking about it for a while now - so why wait to try them.  It would be a good change for you and just what you need to get back on track.  I say go for it!!  Remember what you said about getting radical… this would also fit that bill.

And Yah for Randy now that he is considering his health.  It makes me think of my dad and his Heart Attack a few months ago.  He finally got scared enough to make some changes for his health and quit smoking after 50+ years.  He is just starting his cardiac re-hab program this week.  He will be using the treadmill downstairs too and he is in his 70’s.

We stopped at Play it Again Sports on the way to the cook out, to see if they had any kettlebells ... unfortunately, they didn’t. I looked online today and the bell cost $40, but the shipping was $25! Holy Moly! You’re right, Catherine, they would certainly fit in the radical category! I’m going to do some more looking around tomorrow; I think I do want to try this. It would certainly give me the boost I’m looking for.

Time off is being spent thinking - as usual Bree!  rasberry I’m working on bringing balance to my diet, and fun to my workouts.

If Randy is actually concerned about his health, will that help with the food?

Good luck with your search for a kettle bell. I like the rounded handle better than the squared-off one. You might ask Shawn which he has and if he’s used both if he has a preference. I find the rounded handle easier to control.

OK, what do you get when you combine a very bored Bree and unlimited long distance? Calling around your area for a kettlebell.
This place: has kettleballs, not kettlebells, but it may be worth a look.

You’re amazing Bree! Thanks! Now I have somewhere to begin my search!

One can only hope Joan; but there’s still Shelly; he has to buy junk for her as that’s all she’ll eat.
