No Joan, thankfully we stayed at about 35, so all we got was torrential rains. Had it been just a few degrees cooler, we probably would have ended up with several feet worth of snow! So very happy we missed that; although our local weather man thought is was cool just to have snow in the forecast for May! Silly weatherman!
Friday and Saturday were sick days; today is a rest day. I’m feeling much better today and hope to be back in the groove tomorrow.
There are some really good yoga podcasts out there, have you looked into any of those? And with the warmer weather, maybe its time to take the walk outside.
Thanks for the suggestions Bree, I do look at the yoga podcast every once in a while, haven’t found any to my liking yet, but it’s certainly time for another look. Not sure about exercising outside though - sounds pretty radical to me!
I had thought my yoga was getting old and boring. But upon further reflection, I think that doing it only 2 days a week made it feel like an intrusion into my otherwise normal day, and I didn’t like that and it turned into not wanting to do yoga at all. Last week I did yoga 4 days (Friday I was sick), and I’m a little sorer than usual, but I like having yoga a part of my day again. I noticed that 2 days of yoga a week is not enough to retain the flexibility I had gained before.
Well, Joan, for now, I think it’s a bit TOO radical...but I’ll work on it, K?
I did actually get out of the house today; my library card had expired so I had to go to the library. While there, I found Yoga Booty Ballet. I know this has been talked about here quite a bit so I checked it out. I’ll let you know how I like it. And I also checked out a teach yourself Norwegian CD, and the lady who checked me out had purchased this, so we had a nice talk about Norway - so I also worked on my social skills too!
That’s a great step to radical! Which YBB did you get? They are so much fun! I recommend doing them first while alone, no need to give others that kind of comic relief, you get better as you go. But it is fun!
I cut my walk short this morning anticipating the DVD would take a lot of energy, and it did. So much so that I decided to cut out my Bowflex as well, as I worked with dumbbells and lots of muscles. When the warmup started I really didn’t like it at all - if it’s one thing I’m not it’s “funky”. But it got better. I don’t think this is very related to yoga, but as a cardio workout, it was OK.
Bree, I didn’t realize there were more than one; the one I got was Total Toning Basics and Advanced Fat Burning. Today I did the Toning.
Yep, I did the Cardio Caberet today. There’s also Hip Hop Abs, Goddess Booty, Yoga Core, and Latin Flavor. I’m sure there are more, but those are the ones I’ve done. Are you going to do it again?
Great job Deb on getting radical - I think Yoga Booty Ballet falls under that catgory. And don’t worry about what it looks like now - the object to why we are doing this is for the results after!! A few extra laughs with yourself on the way never hurt anyone.!!
Not so good today...I started out with good intentions, walking a half hour with plans of doing Yoga Booty Ballet - Advanced Fat Burning; but...well, life got in the way (I suddenly had this urge to spring clean...) so I ended up with just the walk.
I agree, Catherine, that YBBISradical for me!
And Bree, it took all evening to decide (you ask the hardest questions! ) although I’m not sure about the funky aspects, by the time I went to bed, I realized that I did enjoy it, was quite surprised that I made it though the whole thing, and I WAS planning on doing it again today… but I’m not sure how to integrate this into my routine - perhaps on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I don’t think I want to do YBB on Bowflex days… I’ll have to think about that.
You made me laugh! I’ll have to finally clean off our kitchen table because we invited my mother to dinner on Sunday. I’ll do almost anything rather than deal with the paperwork.
Oh no Joan! We’re talking hardcore cutthroat gamers here! And I never could (even in the old days) drive fast and reckless! It’s much more fun watching when they play those kinds of games. I join in when it’s tennis or bowling, but definitely not racing!
I’m so happy you liked the YBB! I love hearing about you getting funky.
We just got Mario Kart for the Wii too, I kicked the crud out of Hubby, Jenn, and her fiance last night. It is so much fun. And I find its an ab workout. Whenever I’m about to fall off a cliff, or pass someone, I tighten my abs instinctively. Does your family do that too, or am I just completely goofy? (Hubby’s practicing right now, silly boy.)
Well, I finally added in those new yoga poses I found and added 15 minutes to the workout. I also started a new weights routine today, another split muscle group thingy...today was chest and back. Randy saw me struggling with girlie pushup (I’ve never done pushup before); and seemed very surprised I couldn’t do them “after all the weight lifting I do”. I told him I could only bench press 140, NOT my weight...I forget the formula to calculate how much of your weight it is that you actually lift in a pushup. He was clearly disappointed… weird…
I notice my exercise time is creeping up again...so I cut my walk in half and did intervals 3.2/2.8…
Bree, I missed my opportunity to ask if the boys do abs while racing; but I did notice quite a bit of body activity, so I’ll bet they do! So tell me, do you just go full out all the time? I know they do! Only thing that stops them is getting hit or falling off the course. I tried the old Mario Kart when the boys were at school, and drove pretty much just like I drive a real car - slowly and cautiously - definitely NOT the way to go in the game however!
