Carrie

Cardio can become addictive.  I love the feeling I get when the endorphins kick in.  wink Just start slow and work in to it.  Stay with it and the results you will get will amaze you.

By the way, you have inspired me to start working with a trainer and doing more resistance workouts.  Thanks for sharing your accomplishments.

My dog tries to jump out of the tub sometimes. I swear, she looks like a petrified rat when I put her in the tub. Ah, memories..........

It’s funny because people never think they could grow fat on their heart. But this one person I saw had a good 2 inch layer of fat smothering their heart. It has to go somewhere!

It took me awhile to learn how to use the Elliptical when I first started. Don’t give up. Just keep trying it and try some of the other equipment too. It really does burn the calories fast. That’s why I use it so much. That program you watched sounds like a rude awakening. I’ll have to check and see if I even have Discovery Health in my channel line up. I hope I do. You’re doing great, kid!

I have to check out that show too!

I am with Paula… the endorphins are like that natural high when you are doing cardio.

As far as the elliptical is concerned, I think it is probably a bit easier on the knees… it is lower impact than running. Nevertheless, I wore knee braces for a good four months when I started out.

Best of luck, Carrie… you are going to go through an adjustment period like I am with the lifting. I took 4 Motrins with my dinner!! cheese

Ouch Tim.  I know it hurts a lot when you start but I promise if you stick with it that pain will go away.  Keep lifting.

Paula, I’m thrilled to have inspired you.  What a wonderful compliment.  Thanks for that.

Emmi and Shawn, I’ll probably go back to the elliptical and give it another try but I just don’t like it.  It feels so awkward to me.

Brandon, Where did you see the woman with the fatty heart?  On TV?

Today:

I told my trainer tonight that I’ve lost 5 lbs so for in my challenge.  I jokingly said “That’s one chin for me.  A drop in the bucket.” He grabbed me around the head, pulled me into his chest and gave me a big noogie.  Then he kind of shook me around and told me to be nice.  His reaction surprised me. Then he said that I was doing good and not to say things like that.  Then he told me that a man just hired him to be his trainer after watching me in the gym doing squats.  He was so impressed by what I am able to do that he hired him right away.  That made me feel so good about myself.

incline presses 75, 75, 95, 95, 115, 115 lbs
flat dumbbell presses 25, 25, 30, 35, 35 lbs
4 sets of flat flies and 4 sets of incline flies at 25 lbs each
shoulder presses on the Smith machine 75, 95, 95, 105, 115, 115
side dumbbell raises 4 sets @ 10 lbs
front dumbbell raises 2 sets @ 15 lbs and 2 sets @ 20 lbs
overhead dumbbell extensions 20, 25, 30, 30, 35 lbs
push downs with V bar 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 lbs
push downs with straight bar 70, 80, 80, 90

I feel great and energized tonight.  Now I’ve got to relax so I can get to bed a a decent hour.

Carrie.

That’s awesome that you’re already inspiring other people.  How rewarding!  Just think--your incredible squats made someone take a major step in their fitness routine.  Kudos to you!

Way to go champ! kickn’ butt and taking names, good job Carrie. As far as the elliptical is concerned try going backwards or increase the tension until it feels right.

Hey Julie!

I plan to flop out on the couch and watch the Biggest Loser.  I’m totally hooked on that show.

You’ll love it tonight then.  I just saw a preview that a lady falls on the treadmill and gets her hair caught.  Ouch!!!!  I can see that happening to me because I’m a big klutz so I won’t be laughing.  Poor thing.  I get attached to the people.  The transformations amaze me and inspire me to keep going.  If they can do it so can I.

The brown couple is making me cry right now.  I haven’t seen enough of them yet to pick a favorite.  When I seem them do the challenges I ususally decide then because their true personalities come out.

Thanks!  I’m trying Chad.  I’m starting to feel a whole lot better since I changed my diet.  Eating the right foods is giving me all kinds of energy.

Eating the right foods is giving me all kinds of energy.

It makes the biggest difference!!
I find that if I flub up on the eating part during the day, I won’t go exercise that night.  And also,I find that if I don’t go excercise after eating well all day, then I’ll flub up at night on the food.
I’m a man of habbit!
