Carrie, looks like we both have fitness goals before a decade change. . .  If I can get to half of where you are with the weights, I’d be super-happy! Shawn had a good question. How/when are you going to work the cardio in? A lot of what my trainer has me doing is actually weights plus cardio at the same time even though I’m not lifting nearly as much as you are. Maybe a combination would work for you. . .

I’ve been lifting over a year and a half now.  It took many hours of work to get there.  Keep at it and you’ll be amazed at what you can do.

I am going to do cardio too.  Tim and I have a little challenge going.  I will add two days of cardio a week and he’ll add two days of weight lifting.  I just don’t plan on doing the cardio on the same night I lift, at least not yet.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Thanks guys.  It helps to start a diet with a weight loss.  Keeps my spirits up.  I like the foods I’m eating so it’s been fairly easy so far. Tonight will be a challenge for me.  We are going out to a local steak house with friends tonight.  They don’t have a large menu so I’m not sure what to get.  They serve steak, gator tail and lobster.  I haven’t been in a long time so maybe they have some healthy stuff too.

Friday was a rest day for me.  When I got home from work my husband attempted to cook a healthy meal for me and we all flopped on the couch to watch a movie together as a family.  We haven’t done that in a while so it was nice.

Have no fear Tim, nothing is missing.  A deal’s a deal.  Today I rode my exercise bike for 45 minutes then worked my abs on my new exercise ball.  I fell off a couple times but it was kind of fun that way.  That was all after doing my housework.  So that gives me one cardio day this week and I plan on one more tomorrow.  Next week will be more planned out because it will be a regular work week and back to my normal days with my trainer.  I look forward to getting back to a normal schedule.

I hope you are all having a good weekend.

The change in diet made those pounds fall off so fast so adding the cardio should make it melt away.  I wanna be just like you Gina.  You look great!  I hope you have a fantastic 2008 too.

Great workout, Carrie… and way to get us off your back for awhile!! smile

Yup… I got the new spare tire over the holidays… that belly fat has got to go!! I am doing the crunches but I would also like to learn how to use the Swiss Ball.

Carrie, are you able to do cardio at the facility where you meet up with your trainer?? Cardio is always better when you have multiple options… plus, I recommend you give the ellipticrack a try… it’s good stuff!! cheese

Thanks Muscles, Shawn and Brandon.  Hopefully I will continue to shrink.  I’m enjoying the foods I’m eating and have not gone hungry so I think this is the way to go for me.  I feel a whole lot better and it’s only been a few days.

Yes Tim, they have a whole cardio room and in February they will be expanding by moving to a new, larger building.  They are also putting in a pool for swimming laps and will have water aerobic classes.  I don’t plan on using the pool until I"m babe-olicious.  Only my family and close friend have to see me in a bathing suit at this point.

I have tried the elipticrack but it hurts my knees and I felt very awkward.  I don’t know if it’s just the machine that they have there or what.  I don’t really like doing any cardio on machines.  I prefer to get outside if the weather is nice.  It’s so much more interesting.  The reason I use the stationary bike is because it’s right there in my living room and I can read, watch TV or just be around my family.  I plan to mix things up a little bit by trying different things.  I’m also not able to go to the gym during the day and am far from a morning person.  That’s why I go to my trainer at 7:00 PM twice a week.  The evening is my exercise time so I end up being in doors.

TODAY:

Before breakfast, I got up and walked Eddie for about 20 minutes.  He’s getting a little chubby around the middle too so I worked him pretty hard.  When we got home I gave him a bath, which is an aerobic activity in itself.  It could best be described as slippery, wet, dog wrestling.  Then I chased him around the house with a towel and brush.

Tonight I rode the exercise bike for 50 minutes while watching the most frightening program on Discovery Health channel about obesity.  They had the fat people go to the hospital and hold a healthy and an enlarged heart looking at the difference.  Then looked at healthy and plaque filled arteries along with a few other nasty looking organs.  Scared me straight.  After that I hit the floor for some crunches and stood to do some more bending work on my waist.

The people in the show changed their diet and started exercising and in three months they had drastic changes in their health like smaller bodies, especially their waists and lower stats (BP, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc).  That’s the same amount of time we are doing our Biggest Loser competition at our office.  That really encouraged me today.

Remember just stick to the plan and you will do great, as far as the cardio goes start easy and work your way up.
