it sounds like your body was telling you it’s time for a rest. I hope it’s not the illnesses that seem to be going around.
I just have a lot on my mind right now and I keep waking in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep.
Despite being sleep-lacking, I had an excellent workout. I was so relaxed when I got home. But still woke in the middle of the night and slept very little after that.
I feel alot better today than yesterday and expect to have a great workout tonight...if the weather allows. The snow is coming down like crazy right now.
I’m holding steady at 18 pounds lost in January. We’ll see what Feburary holds.
I’m shooting for 10 pounds lost in Feb.
I’m with Shawn on the new pic thing...after the winter weight has been lost.
Speaking of pictures, if I don’t take one soon here, I won’t be able to prove to you all that I actually lost all that weight a couple years from now!!
Great workout Chad and good going on the 18 lb loss. That’s nothing to sneeze at. I think 10 lbs is a safe goal for next month too. You’re doing so well!

Snow Day....
I skipped the gym cuz I almost wrecked while driving home.
I weighed today and my total weight loss for Jan was 19 pounds. Like I said, I’m shooting for 10 in Feb....we get one extra day this year, but thats still only 29 days, so I have to hop to it.
I started counting my calories to see where I’m at each day and I’ve been averaging 1400-1450 each day. That way I’ve still have a couple of hundred calories to play with.
I’ve cut the beans out as a side dish along with all of the breads, pastas, and rices.
I’ve noticed since cutting out breads, pastas, and rices, I don’t get as hungry as I used to, so the 1400 calories really feel like plenty. I’m so amazed with how little I eat - and don’t feel hungry. I still have all the energy I need to get throught the day and my workouts. I think without the bread and rices, I’m avoiding all those sugar spikes throughout the day.
If you’re interested to see a sample of what I’m eating, here’s my menu for today.
2 packets low sugar oatmeal 240 cal
Salmon fillet 100 cal
salad w/ dressing 75 cal
TV dinner (lean cusine) 300 cal
salad w/dressing 75 cal
chicken 110 cal
veggie mix 70 cal
apple 60
little snacks of nuts all day 400 cal
Yeah Chad! You’re doing so well. I have no doubt you’ll reach your weight goal this month. I agree with you about the starches. Those foods make me more hungry and can even trigger a binge. I don’t think I’ll be giving up my beans. I love them and don’t seem to get that rush when I eat them. Do what works for you.
Be careful driving in that snow and have a good weekend.
Why did you cut out the beans? They are loaded with so much good healthy protein and fiber and are low in fat. Were you having “problems” because you ate too many? Or did you just get tired of them?
Hi Chad,
Nice to see you! You seem to be working very hard on your goals!! Good for you!! I too have totally eliminated white bread, white rice, and potatoes!
Seems to be working out well for me. I also drink 3-4 protien shakes a day. protien shakes keep my energy up,and my hunger down!
I struggled with sleep problems for years, if I can be of any help, feel free to let me know!
Best Wishes,
Charlene-R.I. (Go Patriots!!!)

I really don’t have much of an appetite right now. And by cutting them out, I’m closer to the 1500 or so calories I’m trying to eat.
I still might have them from time to time, especially if I’m cooking dinner for guests, but right now, I’m eating plenty without them.
That’s awesome, Chad! It’s great that you’ve found the right balance for now. And that you are willing to play with your diet and routine, flexibility is amazing.
Congratulations on the 19 pounds down last month, and here’s to next month’s 10!
Charlene - I’m glad you’re finding the forums helpful!
Shawn, Emmi, Carrie, Bree - Thanks for the words of encouragement.
I survived the snow day and started Feb with a bang.

My trainer put me throught the proverbial ringer Friday. He wanted my biceps to reall ball up for my weekend adventures. I don’t think he realized I’d be wearing 3 layers of clothes!
Biceps
3 Drop sets of preacher curls, starting with 12 reps of 50 pounds, then 12 more of 40 pounds, then 30, then 20, then 10 with no rest between. Ow!
3 drops sets 12 reps of standing bicep cable curls, but just dropping between 55 then 45 pounds.
4 sets of 12 reps of angled concentration curls
4 alternating sets of 12 of hammer curls superseting right into 12 reps of standing curls
Back
4 sets of 12 reps of of each:
Pirate rows
lat pull downs
seated rows
just 30 mins of cardio...I was tired, dang it!!!
(in the past I haven’t been doing cardio of Fridays, but it’s now added to my weekly routine.)

Saturday I skipped the weights and did 45 minutes of cardio.
I’m going to start watching tv on dvd on the treadmills at the gym - they each have their own DVD player and screen. I need to get through Seasons 4 and 5 of Six Feet Under. I haven’t seen anyone bring DVDs yet....everyone is watching tv. But what a way to get through 55 minutes of cardio.
Awesome workout! Isn’t it strange how we pay our trainers to abuse us? I know that if I didn’t I would never workout the way I do now so it’s well worth it. Bring on the pain, right?
