I’m starting a new 100 day challenge because I need the extra motivation to increase my workouts for awhile. A bit of indulgence over the holidays and I’m over the midpoint of my acceptable weight range so time to up the exercise and cut back a bit on the food.
Great start - 15.7 mile paddle around Alameda Island.
Excellent restraint at the after paddle pot luck - Skipped the deserts and focused on the veggies, and managed to get the last of the sugar snap peas. What a treat
The weather may not cooperate for outdoor activities for the next few days so it looks like I’m heading back to the gym.
I’ve been very careful about my workouts since I had problems with my back last summer. I went back to the elliptical today, 0 elevation and minimal resistance. I was going to start with 30 minutes, but it felt OK so I continued to 45 minutes with a 5 minute cool down. I’m still in good shape thanks to all the other stuff I do, so my HR was only at about 110 max, and I hardly broke a sweat, but it felt good to be back. Even better news, I could still walk after the workout.
Dinner tonight was take out sushi - small plate, mostly tuna and salmon.
Tim
Islands are just mountains surrounded by water - the hard water (as in frozen) alternative would be to ski around a mountain. (oops, you live in the midwest, no mountains )
Paula,
Nice workout at the gym!! Dinner sounds delicous!! Glad to hear your able to walk after the workout!! Sounds like a great start for the new year.
I’ve been doing exercises for my back for the past 30 years.
Today was an easier day, stretching and yoga at home. I felt really good this morning but I don’t want to push too hard (yet ) I spend most of the day working on installing Oracle and WebLogic on a Solaris x86 VM. If you think Vista is bad, just try Solaris. An educational experience! Tomorrow, if all goes well, I try to install our own application. I’m already scheduling gym time to counteract the frustration.
Another heavy computer day, and light exercise day. I’m making progress but so far, I’m convinced that our application installation program just doesn’t work. I really need to sharpen the saw this weekend. Then I can use it to cut the bloody computer into little pieces, and then crunch them into little tiny bits. I did another home workout, stability ball, and a step workout. I need to undeck my halls so I can bring in the bike trainer again.
I’m going to try to paddle tomorrow. It may be interesting given the storms we’ve had. Maybe I’ll have the opportunity to do my first combat roll.
I don’t think that computer has a chance!! I’ve never had sushi, too afraid of anything raw for some reason...but hey, looks like you are really mindful about what you put into your body, way to go!
