I didn’t get it done. But I have 2 running days a week that I can skip and make my goal. My legs felt a bit sore and I was so tired that I took a skip. This morning I couldn’t get up, I was still exhausted. I was worried I was getting sick, but then Flo showed up and that made sense. Men, I hope you are grateful. And if you aren’t, I’ll go into detail so you will be.
Day 10 (1/10)
Inhale yoga
I will do my run today, only worked half a day, and it’s just my mile and a half. Tomorrow is the long run, I’m looking forward to making 3.5 miles. I would do the long run today, but enjoy Hubby saying I was running forever. He misses running, got bursitis and had to stop. So now he has runner’s envy. I could be nice and not run in front of him, but it seems to light a fire under his butt and make him want to work out more. Haha, my evil plan is working!
Cramps won. I did take a long hot bath this afternoon, fell asleep and woke up just before the girls came home on the bus. But I had to redo the hair and make-up anyway because Skeeter had a birthday party to go to that I had completely forgotten about.
I am most definitely looking forward to bed tonight. I’m just tired.
Keep up the good work...once you start getting that 3 -4 mile mark down...it will seem easier than the 1.5 miler. I can understand your hubbies Bursitis problem...I had it for awhile...just got tired of not running and worked through the pain...Good ‘ole Ibuprofen...awesome stuff. Good choice in shoes...I wear Saucony Triumphs...thank god I have a neutral stride. I am slowly working the running back into my workout...had a bad sprain in Feb last year that just kept me messed up till recently(doing jumping/spinning kicks in Tae Kwon do)...lately has been doing much better...so I figure I will work it back in slow. Hopefully won’t re-injure it.
Saw something from Tom earlier thought I would chime in on.

...I’m going to be putting in about 25 -40 miles a week, so expect to wear these out in about 3-4 months or so ( what IS the mileage for a pair of shoes).......
Tom...when I was training for my first marathon in 2000...I read alot...got really informed on all types of running tech stuff...Shoes where the biggest issue...obviously the more miles you put on them the faster they wear out. But different shoes break down differently. I see that by your choice in shoes you over-pronate...this tends to wear them down on the insides really quick...so average shoe for an over-pronator can last as little as 300 miles. Alot of it to has to do with your weight. Average is about 400 Miles...if your getting 500 miles your doing really good. Thing is, most of us can’t really tell by looking at a shoe if it needs to be replaced. But almost all of us that put lots of miles on a shoe can tell...Little tell tale things start showing up...mainly inner knee aches for over-pronators(if its PAIN...then your really over due).
Sorry if it sounds preachy...I made a few bad mistakes choosing shoes that where all wrong for me early on and my knees and hips paid for it. But once I had my stride evaluated, and bought the right type of shoes...never again. I am by no means an authority on running...I just read a lot of good books on running, marathons and running injuries that are written by people that are authorities on running.
Bree...your doing it right...take your time, and increase slow...nothing but time and you’ll be there. I was surprised how quickly my runs increased and the times started going down.
Good Luck...can’t wait to see you kick the 1/2 Marathon in the butt.
You’re making great progress in running Bree. That bit about running while tornados are coming is a little over the top. It’s great that you have some flexibility in your schedule that lets you modify the plan while still making your goals. That’s very important.
(I’ve got sacauny triumph 4’s , but I think they may not be right for my pronation. I’m wearing the outside heels off them)
Aunt Flo kicked me hard in the butt. I didn’t get out of bed until just after noon. Then I could barely move all day. So weird. Hubby made me get up and go shopping for a new elliptical. I feel better, but still tired. I hate taking 2 days off in a row, but I’ve learned to listen to my body. Tomorrow will back to running, and I’m going for the 3.5!
It will be nice to have a good elliptical here to alternate if I need a running break. Walking just won’t get my HR up enough.
It’s in the box in the bedroom right now. The plan is to set it up tomorrow morning. But it’s mostly for Hubby, I’m still loving the run. The cool thing is, we’re both planning on getting up at 5 on weekdays and doing cardio. So I’ll finally get to workout with him. That will definitely help keep me on track.
We got a Horizon E500 from Dick’s Sporting goods. It was on sale for $500. We’re about to set it up, but I played with it in the store and was happy with it. There were some amazing models for over $1000, but we didn’t have that kind of cash. Someday. We’re thinking of rearranging the bedroom so we can have both machines in there. I’d rather put the couch in the bedroom and have the living room be the workout room. Then we’d have room for the punching bag I was lusting after and the weight machine. But I really want that punching bag.
I didn’t see any there. But the ones with the stands are awesome! Even the girls were punching the bags in the store. I told Hubby I want one for Valentine’s Day.
We have the elliptical half way done. So far the instructions and assembly are easy. It would be smart to set it up with a helper, there are a some things that need to be held in place and screwed.
