Wednesday: REST DAY
Thursday: 2 mile run, 1/2 mile walk
Friday: Namaste yoga, Shimmy bellydancing
Saturday: Hardio for hours

Jenn’s wedding is in 2 weeks. I’m going to toy with the Atkins induction phase until then and just see how much moving I can do and what I can lose. No drastic anything, if I feel weird, I’ll go back to my normal stuff.

Day 1/14
weight 146.4

Bree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I know that every “diet” is so different and works differently for everyone but I’ll tell you that this worked for me...."Clean Eating” and STRENGTH TRAINING.  You know me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to run like the wind, and yes, cardio is totally fab, but to really see results...the firm results, the smoother appearance of your body, the more energy you’ll have, the better you feel in clothes....majority of my workouts are STRENGTH TRAINING.  Since I started my clean eating and hard focus on weights, I’ve lost 15 pounds (in about 2 months!).  In my opinon, there is nothing sexier than a strong woman.  Not just a skinny woman...a woman whose curves are those of muscle.  You should try this if you are looking for something different.

Well, at the store, I absolutely couldn’t find the low carb shakes. So I went for the high protein shakes and snack bars. This will fix my work lunch issue. At least I’ll know what and how many calories are going in. Not ideal, but the best I can come up with right now.

Julie, thanks for that! I really want to do more strength training, I was doing more here with the Power 90, now just the yoga. I looked today for Harvey Walden’s book, but had no luck. I want to look through it before I buy. It’s full of body weight exercises. When I’m not subbing all the time I plan to spend time at the gym with lots of weights.

Another weird thing has happened. I just don’t want to run. I’m having a lot of fun with the yoga and belly dancing, and just don’t want to run. When I’m running, it’s wonderful and I love it. When I’m not, I don’t even want to think about it. Any ideas?

Hi Bree,
I go through phases with my running… thats why i like swimming biking along with it too.....
running has never been my strength, and i find my body responding so well when i do, but truthfully, not my first choice of exercise....

i heard on a podcast that you should just run.... even when you dont feel like it...... plan for just a mile....
after the mile a lot of times you keep going, or sometimes not......

its okay...your doing so much other stuff...... incorporate when you can

only exception..you have to run with me during the WWFR!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Don’t worry Tom, I’m so running this weekend. That 2 weeks with the blahs and the blister really messed me up. I really want to get back on track and run in the fun zone again. I’ll keep going. My time is gonna suck, but at least I’ll do it.

Sunday: REST DAY

So far the diet is going OK. I don’t have the major afternoon crash and heaviness. I’m not hungry, and I’m on track with my calorie goal range (1200-1400). Woohoo!

Hi Bree
do you run outside or on a treadmill. I got a treadmill in garage with tv/ dvd in front of it time flys by. Also less stress on joints the street running. The monitar I got was from lidl £20 but ECG accurate and loads of features. Had a polar but can’t change batteries in chest strap when they went. Keep up the good work.
Bye for now Kevin.

Go Bree Go!

Having a blister + running = a bad time.  Even with walking, what a bummer.  Thank goodness for moleskin.

You were talking about low carb shakes.  The kind we use are usually available in the local WALMART for $5/box of four.  It’s a silverish box, and the brand name is EAS.

SHOP WITH CARE - becuase not all of their shakes are low carb.  Of the ones that we’ve tried, we like the chocolate the best.  The caramel aren’t too good, and the strawberry ones are so-so.

Vanilla ADKINS shakes are pretty good!  So are the Chocolate ADKINS (or some variation of chocolate).  Yum!  But like all of those shakes, they taste best EXTREEMELY cold.

Here’s a cheat - do it with caution, or you’ll have an explosion in your freezer.  Those EAS shake boxes, or even the ADKINS can/boxes, taste even BETTER when they’re on the verge of freezing.  Pop one that is already cold (shake it first) in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes, and then shake it well again before serving.  They are right, it tastes better super cold - yum.

Have fun at Jenn’s Wedding in two weeks, be sure to get a pic of you at the shin-dig.

Cheers,
~ Josette ~

Thank you Kevin and Josette! So far I’m down from 146.4 to 144.8, not too bad. I feel great, and I’m off the ice cream!

Am I crazy? Yes, I am! (set to the wonder pets theme) I have been dizzy with a silly head cold, so no exercise for me this week. It has really sucked. Couldn’t take anything because all cold medicines make me dizzy, and since that was my biggest symptom, it seemed silly. I almost went to the doctor thinking I had an ear infection. Last time I was dizzy for that long it was a double ear, sinus, and throat infection that I didn’t know I had. But it started to get better, so I toughed it out.

The crazy part? Well, I’m still going to run the 10K today. It may be more of a walk towards the end, but I’m going to go the distance. I know if I had to, I could easily walk 6.2 miles, so there’s nothing stopping me from running part of it. All if I’m super stubborn (Hubby says super stubborn doesn’t begin to describe me). smile

I’ll let y’all know how it goes. I’m planning on hitting the park, though the high today is 85, so if I don’t get going soon, it’ll be the treadmill. It’s 6am, I was too excited to sleep, crappy since I didn’t get to bed until 1am. Can you say nap?

Yep, I was completely insane. I did the 10K on 3.5 hours of sleep. I actually did a much better time than I thought I would. I ran it in what I was hoping to run it when my training was still going strong. I ran the 6.2 miles in 73 minutes flat. Woohoo!

Oh, and my knee is feeling just fine.

Thanks, Kevin. I am really happy with it.

Sunday: Namaste (yoga) and Shimmy (bellydancing)

I’ve been saving up for new running shoes, and today I bought them. I got the new Asics Gel Nimbus, $120, but they felt amazing at the store. Can’t wait to try them out tomorrow!

Perhaps stubborn determination, Joan. And thank you.

Monday: REST DAY (I played on the computer too long—oops)
Tuesday: Hardio, Namaste yoga, Shimmy bellydancing, 5K run, .4 mile walk (made up for it)

Was only planning a 2 mile run, but after I got going, I just didn’t want to stop. The really cool thing was I ran with NO walk breaks at all. It was a slow 5mph pace, but not a single slow down. HR went over some on the last mile, but I felt good, so phooey to the beeping watch.

I’ll be gone to South Carolina this weekend. Jenn (used to post here, Jenni4) is getting married. Hubby is the best man, and Mouse is the flower girl. We’re driving down, taking our time. Hubby said both hotels have gyms cheese , but no indoor pool downer . I’ve never seen the Atlantic Ocean before, so that should be really cool. We’re leaving Thursday morning, not sure about internet, but will post if I can.

Bree, you’ll have a great time this weekend. Hope your cold is totally gone. The ocean is something.

Don’t worry about the beeping heart monitor (no expletive intended). My trainer listens for it to start beeping to know that he’s got me working at a difficult enough rate. He does vary the activities so that every so many minutes my heart rate comes back down and the beeping stops . . . so he can then get it beeping again.

What a wonderful time you will have. Get a good whiff of that salty air when you get out of the car. It’s the first thing I notice when I get there. It is truly a sight to behold. Do your walk/run along the ocean that day. Most of all have fun!

I’ve chilled at Myrtle Beach before, and it’s nice. Depending on where you are on the Atlantic Ocean side, the water color is much different. Up here, it’s not very clear. Near OBX, it’s very nice. In Florida near the keys, it’s beautiful (I hear). But a beach is a great place for a run… hope you get some you time for at least a walk.

Warning - run against the wind to start… running with the wind to your back on the return is ALWAYS easier. LOL I rented a bike at the beach once and found that out the hard way.

Have fun at the Wedding - you’ve earned it. Bring back a few pics!!

Cheers,
~ Josette ~

Thanks girls! I’m planning on having a lot of fun, and moving around seeing some beautiful sights. We’ll be in Charleston. We’re only driving half way tomorrow, so I’m planning on getting in some working out in the morning. I’d rather stick around and do that than be cooped up in a hotel with 2 squabbling girls.

Wednesday: Power 90 sculpting and abs, 30 minutes elliptical w/ 5 1 minute intervals

I’m back! I’m not quite recovered from the drive, but I’ll get there. The wedding was beautiful, the beach was fun, and I wish we had more time there to play.

Thursday: 20 minute run, 10 minute walk; some swimming (no clock)
Friday - Sunday: nada

I’ll catch up with y’all later!
