I think Jo is still playing Cardio Twister with her hubby.  That explains why she hasn’t posted in a few days.  wink

You’re doing great with your workouts Jo! Have you thought about adding some weight training to your workouts? The more muscle you have on your body the more fat you will burn.

I had the weirdest dream the other night that we all met up at a conference and recognised each other from our avatars. Bizarre!

Funny dream. But what’s really funny is that this could really happen!  smile

I’m much better looking in person LOL!

LOL  LOL That’s just not possible Shawn!  LOL LOL

Emmi - I haven’t been doing any resistance work so far, but you mentioning it has given me the push I needed.  I finally wandered over to all of the big scary weight machines after being on the elliptical this morning.  Discovered that they are not as scary as I had expected. I’m gonna take it slow but I want to use two weight machines a day.  Today I used the chest press and the leg curl.

Also have increased cardio by one minute.

Day 15

Elliptical
Duration:  31.01
In Zone:  29.53
Avg HR:  141
Max HR:  154
Calories:  304

Day 16

Heart rate monitor broke shock So no proper stats today.  All I can say is that I did 31 minutes on the elliptical followed by chest press 3 sets of 10 reps and leg curl 3 sets of 10 reps.  Darn, I guess I’ll have to go shopping smile

Way to go JO! Does your gym have a trainer, maybe you can get him to make you a small program.

Thanks Emmi.

Shawn, Yes my gym does have personal trainers and I have signed up for a couple of sessions.  But because it’s January they are pretty busy.  I am hoping to see one soon.

I was sooo tired yesterday that I planned to take today as a rest day.  I had to get up normal time for the dogs and for hubby, but once hubby had left for the gym and work I went back to bed for a couple of hours.  That is something I never do but it felt so good.  And the dogs enjoyed it too.  They are not allowed upstairs during the daytime so they liked being able to snuggle up with mum on the bed.

I felt refreshed after my lie-in and then felt unsure what to do next.  My routine was all messed up by me not going to the gym.  Even though I knew I was entitled to a rest day I just kept thinking I have to have a shower anyway - why not have it at the gym?” So I went to the gym this afternoon and I’m glad I did.  When I was there a man in his fifties came up to me and asked me where I had been.  He said he’d been looking for me but hadn’t seen me in ages.  I must have given him a funny look because he said “You are the lady that lost 11 stone aren’t you?” (about 154 lbs) Err, NO!  He was very apologetic and said that I looked just like the woman who had lost all that weight.  If I did manage to lose that weight it would take me down to about 133 lbs.  That would be fantastic.  So I am taking it as a sign.  I have decided he was speaking to me prophetically.  One day I will be able to say “Yes, I lost 11 stone”.

Day 17

Elliptical
Duration:  31.16
Avg HR:  142
Max HR:  155

New heart rate monitor doesn’t give me as much info confused

Arm curl: 10 reps x 3 sets
Horizontal leg extension:  10 reps x 3 sets

“Yes, I lost 11 stone”

I just love how the English put things! 11 stone would be great, huh?
Glad you got your workout in. I’ll bet you feel great!

because your a trooper!

This has become my mantra.  I am a trooper.  I am a trooper.  I am ........

Day 18

31 minutes on the elliptical followed by Seated Leg Press (I’m not sure thats the right name) 3 sets of 10 reps.  And the Pectoral Fly Machine 3 sets of 10 reps.

Day 19

31 minutes on the elliptical followed by the chest press thing and the bicep arm curl doo-dah.  I can never remember the darn names of the machines.  3 sets of 10 reps on each.

A very cool thing happened at the gym today.  I was showering after my workout when I noticed there was a little bump on my arm.  When I pushed on it I realised it was ........ muscle!  I had been working my biceps and they had popped out to say hello.  They went back in after a few minutes but it was very exciting to see them.  It must be working Yayayayay grin

Thanks Guys.

Day 20

Elliptical 31 minutes
Rear Pectoral Fly 3 sets of 10 reps
Glute Machine 3 sets of 10 reps on each leg

Day 21

Elliptical 31 minutes
Hip Abductor 3 sets of 10 reps
Hip Adductor 3 sets of 10 reps

Day 22

Elliptical 32 minutes (1 minute in reverse)
Shoulder Press 3 sets of 10 reps
Thigh Machine (a muscle beginning with P) 3 sets of 10 reps

I felt a bit like I was going down with a cold at the weekend.  I didn’t feel ill, I just didn’t feel right.  So I dosed myself up and decided to just carry on.  I found the elliptical harder for a couple of days but I feel fine today.  Increased cardio by another minute.

Awesome workouts...Shawn’s correct though...there has been lots of research into that...If your ill the workouts do help but not nearly as much as they would if your healthy...in fact at times may be worse for you by lengthening the illness.

Keep up the good work..!!

Thanks for the advice Shawn and RJ.  I am taking it (see below)

Day 23

32 mins on elliptical
Seated leg curl 10 x 3
Incline Shoulder Press 10 x 3

Day 24

32 mins on elliptical
Biceps 10 x 3
Triceps 10 x 3
Pectorals 10 x 3
Rear Pectorals 10 x 3

Was not feeling too great after workout.  I had a really sore throat and felt very weak and tired.  Decided to take day 25 as a rest day.  Felt even worse the following day so took day 26 as a rest day too.  Although I have to admit that even though they were rest days as far as not going to the gym was concerned they were not exactly restful.  Hubbys grandad died last week and the funeral was on Friday.  So Thursday was full of preparations and then Friday was full of emotion and running around.  On Saturday morning I finally had to admit I was ill.  Throat is so bad I have pretty much lost my voice.  I am very weak, have a very chesty cough and just feel yucky.  I know I need to rest but I really want to get back to the gym.  It is so frustrating not being able to go.  Hubby is still going and when he comes home and tells me what he has been doing I can feel the green-eyed monster rearing his ugly head.  Aargh!  How would have thought that I would be feeling this way?
