I had a t-shaped plate put in my right wrist on Friday.  The doctors office told me I would be in a cast for 6 - 8 weeks.  The cast runs from my knuckles to a few inches below my elbow.  I am a 40 year old female who worked out at the gym 5 days a week before this happened.

I am actually feeling pretty good and was hoping to spend some time on the recumbent bike later this week.  I have a call into the dr asking if this would be okay.  Does anyone have any other fitness suggestions that I can run by my doctor?

Thank you!
Karen

Sorry about your wrist, Karen. How about the elliptical without the moving arms or the treadmill where no arms are required at all. There’s lots of ways to keep moving just be sure you get the Docs okay. Heal up quick!

Thanks Em!  Love the hat!  I leave for Florida the first week in January and the nurse said that water therapy is good for the wrist too!

Best advice is to listen to your doctor as you want a speedy and complete recovery.  It sounds though like lower body exercise should work where you put no weight on your injured area.  I’d think walking and recumbent bike will be approved.

Best wishes and get well soon!

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.
