Not feeling too good. Don’t know if I’m fighting off a cold or just depressed. You’re funny Bree! You’re right 200lbs of dead weight!!! Anyways I made this amazing oriental chicken salad. I’ll post the recepie in the food section later.
Sorry about the blahs! Thankfully, they don’t last! Love the Christmas tree!! As far as being upset about the scale not moving as quickly as you want. As long as you are feeling better and working toward your goal, that’s all that matters. As Scott says, just try to be more gooder than badder!! Baby steps is right....one foot, then the other...each day is a new day, and each meal is a new meal. Just try to make the most of them! You’re doing great...keep it up and eventually you’ll see the scale move.
Thanks Tammy! The scale moved this morning! I am back to 196. Did my walk today but I am definitly up to my chin in the blahs. I hope you’re right Tammy. I’m just going to try to keep moving until they go away.
Yesterday was another rest day because it was Saturday. I have to be at work early and I’m a hair stylist so I’m on my feet all day plus talking and holding conversations with every one. By the end, I’m pooped! So, I’m not going to get upset about not moving on Saturdays. On my way to work I really wished I was out walking instead. Tammy you were right! Yesterday I was feeling a lot better and I feel pretty good today! It’s a gorgeous day. I’m going to have some coffee and then hit the hiking trail! I’ll repost my miles.
I never even thought about how taxing it would be to make small chat with everyone as a hairdresser. I love my hairdresser and try to keep things light and well, avoid the “gosh the weather...” conversation. Hope you had a great weekend and are all prepared for this week!!!!
Day 10 Didn’t get to the hike. It was my mom’s birthday and I had to be over by 3 o’clock. I had to clean the house and do all of my chores. I did get some calorie burning in though. My Mom really wanted a treadmill for a birthday. But they are expensive. So me and my brother decided on a swap. He would give me his elliptical and we would give my Mom my treadmill. Problem-the treadmill was on the third floor and that’s where the elliptical had to go. My muscles kill today from all of the moving around. But, she loves her new treadmill!!
Day 11
Walk 3.23 miles
469 balories
10 minutes on elliptical
Ok the ten minutes doesn’t really count. I was just trying it out and getting used to it.
Bree, I will definitly get pics up. I love posting pics!
Thanks Julie! I am all ready for the week. Did all of my healthy food shopping yeaterday!
Day 12
20 minutes on the new elliptical
114 calories?????????
I don’t get it. I feel like I was sweating my bootie off. My heart rate was between 130 to 140 most of the time. Maybe I’m just used to my long walks and seeing a higher calorie count at the end. I have the Nike sensor so it tells me how far I’ve gone and how many calories I burn. I do think it’s good to switch it up with the elliptical. I was on the easiest resistance. I guess I just need to get better at it to get more calories out of it.
So, what are the little green boxes? How do I get to become more than just a “member”?
The more posts you have, the more green boxes you earn!!!! I think what is more important this early in the game is that you are making time to exercise and doing so, not so much about how many calories. Yes calorie burning is important, so once you get into a groove where you are physically able to do more than 20 minutes of exercise, then focus on getting the most “punch” out of your workouts.
Hey Candy
Day 5 is just a weeny step but a giant leap of courage. Having the diabetes is really hard and exercise will work but it takes time. My strategy is to leave the scales for a while and just focus on feeling good about moving more and being calm and self-respectful around food. 5% of your improvement is in the bag! Keep going!!
I agree with all of the above...calories may be important, but forming a habit of exercise is more important right now! You’re on the right track! Try to keep a positive attitude and concentrate on your health improvements! It’s the little things that make a difference!
Thanks so much everyone. The thing is, the exercise part isn’t that hard, it’s just making it a habit. I love my long walks on most mornings. My problem, I just simply eat way too much. Because of my Diabetes I eat healthy foods, just way too much of them. I am going to keep up my exercise habit, but really concentrate on my portion sizes.
I heard a small “click” today. I don’t think this is about just exercising but creating a healthier life in all areas. I have been putting off a lot of things in my life because I felt “too stressed” to deal with them. That in turn was stressing me out to have those things looming over me. So, today I like to think I had a mental MTM. I took care of a lot of things and got rid of that dark cloud of stress. Once you finally deal with something you have been avoiding you feel so great you wonder what took so long?
I don’t have to be at work until 12 tomorrow so I am looking forward to a long hike with my dog.
Hey Candy...yep, I’d say that was a “click”; however, I don’t think it was small! I think it’s great you’re trying to improve all facets of your life. Fitness is important, diet is important, but what most people don’t realize (but you figured it out!) is that mental health and spirituality are equally important. Once you get all of those working in tandem, you’re well on your way to a healthier life!! I hope you enjoyed your hike!
So the last 2 days I have been really good with my eating. So, today’s day three. Last night I wanted to fry up some potatoes so bad but instead I ate some light soup. I stopped to think about how I wanted to feel in the morning. Talking the time to think about that really helps.
You and I have that in common, I too discovered that for MONTHS I was eating way too much of the healthy stuff, as you know from my thread, WW helped guide me with portion control (It also helps to read the back of packages for the recommended serving size). Congrats on your NSV- Non Scale Victory-in choosing a lighter option than fried potatoes!!!! It is great to focus on what kinds of foods we put into our systems to fuel us isn’t it?
