So all this time I was feeling so cocky, so proud. I am the hiking queen, hear me roar. And then I went hiking with a group that was all younger than me and spent the whole hike trailing the group.  The only person as slow as me was the woman with the baby in her backpack.

Oh well… it’s good to be challenged, and it’s good to see what my next goal is (to keep up with the folks in their 20’s) and it was a beautiful day today.

Hey Laura -

There is nothing more exciting than keeping up with younger folks when it comes to fitness.  Sure, it’s a little harder but with a little training, sleep and good food - it’s actually pretty easy to do.

A couple of months back I took on about 40, 18 years olds in a class.  They were shaping up to join the Marines and a recruiter brought them to me to “get their attention”.  Not only did I drive them hard - I lead them and made them keep up with me.  Needless to say - I got their respect real fast - and that of the recruiters.

So what’s the problem?

I’m 46 and they’re not.  After class I needed a hot tub and a nap - while I’m sure they went on with their day.  smile

grin This one made my day… it’s so true!  I still feel 27 on the inside but sometimes the old bod doesn’t want to cooperate as much as the mind.

I’m glad to say that I was in the gym by 5:00 AM this morning to lift and started my day off right.  I’m heading out for a walk now and hoping that the rain holds off so that I can get a bit of cardio in.  It feels good to get back to my “usual” early morning time… I truly prefer to start my day that way and plan on making it happen every day.
