Hello everyone! My name is Chris, and I’m new around here.

Let’s see, where to start…

I’m 32 years old, a husband and a father of one. I reside in Greenfield, Indiana which is a small-ish city just east of Indianapolis (Naptown, by the way, is one of several nicknames for Indy).

I was a cross country, swimming and track athlete in high school. When I graduated, I continued to consume food at amazing rates, but ceased almost all physical activity. I graduated in 1994 at 5’9” tall and 140 lbs. I now tip the scales at 223.

I’ve listened to Scott’s podcasts for a while now, and I guess I finally realized that planning and talking about my weight loss goals wasn’t getting me anywhere. Turns out I actually need to do something.

I’ve started and stopped exercise programs more times than I can count, and I’ve used just about every excuse in the book. I guess the number one thing I’m hoping to find here in this amazing community is accountability. It would be really amazing if someone would help support my efforts and prod me along when the motivation to move (hey!) starts to wane.

My current goal is simple enough to say (but obviously not that easy to achieve): I want to dip below the 200 lb. mark for the first time in years. After that, I’d like to see 190, then 180… Where does it end? I’d be happy with around 170, but I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes.

Anyway, hello to you all! I’m looking forward to becoming a contributing member of this group.

Chris

Hi Chris and Welcome!  If accountability is what you want then move on over to the 100 Days of Exercise Challenge.  This has kept me on the wagon since May.  I highly recommend it.  If you disappear we will form a search party.

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum.

Suzanne is absolutely right.  the 100 days is a great place for accountability and was we do have search teams.

You have stated your long term goals, do you have any short term ones?  And what do you do for exercise?

One more question, who is the little darling in your avatar photo.

Once again, welcome to the forum.

This cracked me up!  I thought, “Hey!  I resemble that remark!” LOL  Well, at least I did until I stood up, took a step and kept repeating all year!

Welcome to MTMLand, Chris!

Thanks for the warm welcome, all! I’ll be starting my 100 day challenge tomorrow - it’s the 1st and all.

Short term goals at this point include beginning martial arts training, perhaps making it back out to the BMX track, and just generally feeling better about the direction in which I’m heading. My current exercise plan is simple enough… I’m run/walking for 30 minutes a day, with weight training to be added sometime soon (after payday).

My avatar photo is my boxer, named Murphy. That photo was taken the night I brought him home two years ago. He’s a little bigger now!
