Hi everyone! I am so excited and honored to be part of the MTM family! I have been listening to Scott for quite some time, but never really did anything to further my health and wellness… until recently. The MTM podcasts were instrumental in my professional life as a Graphic Artist and aspiring Animator. Instead of health and exercise, I focused on gaining the motivation to pursue my dream to animate feature films. I can confidently say that I am on my way!

The unfortunate reality is that I am rediculously out of shape and unhealthy. Stress is overwhelming my days right now. Apart from having a full-time job and part-time teaching job, I am an almost-full-time student of Character Animation and starting to take freelance Illustration work. Too many opportunities and experiences are being affected by fatigue and lack of energy. I want to be a good example for my 3-year-old son. Besides a few years of Martial Arts in my distant past, I have never been in shape. In jest I tell people that I’m in shape—the shape of an avocado, that is! Well, now I want to be the healthiest avocado I can be.

A few months ago, I had the “Click” to start working out for the first time. That unfortunately was shadowed by the necessity to take on a full-time job in my already busy life. Now that I feel like I’m slipping into dire straights with my well-being, I am finally reaching for that life preserver! I am so grateful for Scott and the whole MTM family for being such an inspiration. You’ve etched a permanent smile on my soul that I can retreive anytime life gets in the way! I am eternally grateful.

Thanks
-henry

Welcome to the Forum and the family, Henry!  What a great picture of you and your son.

What a great story and how wonderful that you used Scott’s motivation to further you dreams.

You may want to start a 100 day thread, that is the best way to meet every one and get the most support.

What are your goals?

Once again, welcome.

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words! Yeah, my little munchkin is the world to my wife and me. I’m already feeling the increased positivity from being here. Some powerful stuff—this MTM Forum! wink

A bit about me…
I’m 5’8” and 220 lbs. My target weight is 180 lbs. I’ve been snoring like a freight train (sleep apnea) since my sudden weight gain about 10 years ago. I feel like my muscles atrophied since college. I can’t play with my son as much as I want. Exhaustion strikes quickly. I am a very old 37 year-old who wants to be a very young 38 year-old on my next birthday in February. That actually gives me enough time for a 100 day challenge! I knew there was a reason I started today! smile I already have hopeful images in my mind of a good life, I also want to have memories of my good life. I feel that I have taken the first steps toward MY good life and my heading is dialed in. What comes after the first step?… Oh yeah, take another step, repeat! (or something like that) wink

Thanks for the recommendation for the 100 day challenge. My first reaction was to start after I graduate from animation school in January. Why wait? I’m hittin’ it tomorrow. Well, I’ll start the ball rolling anyway - not too sure how I’d start this kinda thing. Any suggestions?

Hi Henry! Welcome to MTM. Sounds like you have your goals straight and now you are ready to start moving. As far as how to start? Well, just start. Go for a walk. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise to do when you are just starting out. I would also suggest reading some of the other member’s threads in the 100 Days Challenge to get even more motivation and also ideas of other activities you can incorporate into your life. Good luck Henry. I look forward to seeing you in the forums!

Hi Henry,

Welcome to MTM as well. I am new as a Premium member and have been listening to Scott’s podcasts since about March. What struck me about your goals is that they are the same as mine. I started my new lifestyle (note I didn’t say Diet) on February 6 of this year and have now lost 72 lbs. I have stuck with my program religiously since that time, and using a lot of Scott’s tips have kept me focused on the end goal (to lose 100 lbs in a year) with better health and more energy for my family. I’m almost there and am now using the SMSM program to help me drop the last 30 lbs.

In fact, it was a dinner time conversation around my home that inspired me to take a step and repeat and to change my life, so that I can enjoy my family more. You can hear the story details on this week’s MTM show #117. Scott tells my whole story as only he can.

Best of luck and let us know how you are doing.

Henry -

just wanted to pop in and say “welcome” from a fellow Sacramentan ... well, the Sacto area ...

sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate, but if you start moving, and keep up the momentum, it’ll help in a lot of areas of your life.

Hi and another Welcome from California!  I live a bit west, but still close enough.

Sounds like you have a lot going on in your life, so no time better to take on a fitness challenge.  I’m sure you will be successful as long as you just take one day and one step at a time.

Hi Everyone!

Wow!!! It’s so wonderful to hear all of your welcoming words! I feel at home here.

I just got another job. Yes a third job that is a biggy, too. I still plan on doing the 100 Day Challenge, but I’ve decided to get myself ready for the time being. Life is getting in the way, but I have a plan & support now.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Henry,

After being out of town on vacation, I’m just now getting caught up on all the new folks who have joined us!

Welcome to MTMLand!  I know you’ll find the support and encouragement (and accountability) you need around here.  It’s a remarkable place!  grin

I’m glad you’re here!
