Alright,
maybe this question has been addressed earlier on, but I’ve been wanting to ask it.

During the 60 minutes of LSB, there are certain things that happen at different times.
For example:
At about 22 minutes into it… I start sweating.
I never see the minutes between 25 and 35 (for some reason, that’s the easiest and most painless part, I never seem to look at the timer)…

But the question I have is:
Between 12 and 14 minutes into the long slow burn, I start yawning… (after the warm up and resistance training)…
Am I bored or tired?
It only lasts about a minute… but it’s quite embarrassing at the gym.

Thanks for the help,
S.

When are you doing your LSB? Are you doing it early on in the morning? I always thought that yawning was the way for the body to get more oxygen into the body and blood stream, so when you workout and if your body needs added oxygen, the brain tells you to yawn to get it.  Perhaps that is why.....but hey, don’t feel embarrassed, we all yawn, it could be worse, you could be passing gas on at the gym right?!?!?!? LOL

Julie, Hi…

I guess you’re right. It is quite early when I get to the gym. I’ve never really questioned why I yawn any other time.
It just seemed that it was exactly at the same point every time during my training.

As for feeling embarrassed, no worries, I’ve mastered the art of yawning as discretely as possible… through my nose. You’ve seen it, mouth virtually closed.
It gets harder when someone waves at me and I try smiling at the same time. hehe.

Thanks for the input.

I yawn on the LBS too. Who cares why. I just keep on going. That is the important thing. If I can sleep and keep on going that is just fine.

I yawn at about the same time, wonder if its the time when the body figures out that we need more oxygen in the blood. Hmmm…

Yawning is a natural reaction to a lack of oxygen in the brain and it’s also what we experience with fatigue - brain cells aren’t processing as effectively giving the same signs as the lack of O2.  Don’t worry, It’s OK to yawn.  If it makes you feel better, just call it deep breathing.  That’s what I do in boring meetings when my brain wants to shut down completely.

Only humans worry about things like yawning, sneezing, stretching in public, etc.  Maybe we should be more like cats.  They take both stretching and yawning into an art form.

The brain is like a muscle. When we think well, we feel good.

Always listen to experts.  They tell you what can’t be done and why.  Then do it.

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.
