Today I embark in a new “journey” of sorts, starting a thread here!! It has taken me some time to come to the place where it was fitting to join here and well, yesterday was my 28th Birthday and with a “new year”, comes a new outlook.  I will be using this thread to dive into my struggles and events a bit more (compared to my 100 day thread).  I awoke this morning with the thought of “mind over matter”.....I had a REALLY disappointing birthday.  I didn’t expect much on my special day really, but it really turned out to be such a horrible day.  My husband forgot it was my birthday, we never went out, my family didn’t call, my toddler Madison was a complete monster, and then I fell and now have a big bump on my chin..bleh.  I admit that I was in a HORRIBLE mood yesterday as a result.

I awoke today though thinking, “well you can either start out being 28 and grumpy or you can just move on and make it what you want”.  Before starting MTM, I would have dove into the abyss, being cranky, grabbing the closest bag of candes and saying, “Heck with it all”.  I realized how far I have come just based on this latest event....I still got in a workout yesterday and I am proud of myself for that.  Today is a new day, and well, I am optimistic that today will be better.  (I informed my husband that I am pretending that today is my birthday so he better step up)

I really hope my new year brings me what I desire...I feel like I have been working so hard and I really need to work on patience.  I sometimes get impatient thinking that I should have reached my goal by now...totally unrealistic.  So today there will be a smile on my face, despite a banged up chin and a lousy birthday....life is what you make of it right?

Julie,
Sorry to hear about your anti-climatic birthday. Here’s to a Mulligan (oops sorry for the golf pun) on your birthday and a hope that the do-over meets your expectations.

Julie, you should go party with the Emmster, you could have a girls night out and celebrate your birthday the right way! I wish I lived in Ohio, I would at least take you out for a coffee!

I think I just shorted out my keyboard from excess drool!!!!! Bree knows what this lady likes!! LOL.  Ok so today is a Monday-a fresh start to my week. My weekend turned out a bit better, went out for coffee, relaxed...took the weekend off from working out.  I did double ups all week and well, this darn foot/ankle still is sore and I wanted to give it some time off so I wouldn’t hurt it more.  I am wondering if I pulled something there or a tendon, it is like the top of my foot and ankle that is sore when it moves.  Overuse issues?! Who knows.  Today, well I haven’t worked out today, I had a heap of clothes to put away in my bedroom (um who needs a 10 minute challenge...I DO!) and I started cleaning up that disaster, you ever feel like you don’t get anything accomplished?! That is my day today..hope to kick it in high gear later.

I plan on getting some exercise in, whether a ride on the bike or LSB, especially since I am just so frustrated with this body of mine. I think I am in a plateau soooooo I decided today to start a Food Diary and track what I am eating to see if maybe I need to change stuff there.  I feel like I have been busting myself physically for a while now and just don’t understand the lack of change.  Ok people, I know about the “body wants to remain at the weight it is used to” stuff, but I HATE hearing that...there is my patience dillema again.  You ever feel like, “Man I am busting myself with these workouts and intense sweat sessions, I should be seeing the desired results like NOW”?????  Sigh, I just need to start thinking more....be agressive with the workouts and cunning with my food intake...outthink the darn fat.  So yes, a Food Diary is where I am starting, I plan on fighting this plateau and well, working towards the smaller sized jeans.

Off to oggle Johnny.....lol.

Glad you liked your present. Have you gotten your food diary yet? I like to get a journal that makes me want to write in it. Something cute. I did a small notebook before, and it wasn’t the same.

I need to start journaling my food again too. Maybe we need that as a challenge.

Yup, I got my diary sitting right here before me. That is a good idea to get a cute one that you WANT to write in, I use my favorite pens or pencils....I am huge on keeping “notes” or lists so this will be fun.  I included info like my BMR and recommended calorie intake for 1-2 pound weight loss per week...I hope that this is what I need to do to push me through this plateau, it also helps me refocus on the task at hand, a better me!!!!!!

You go, girl! http://www.calorieking.com is probably the best site out there for how many calories in whatever foods. I can’t wait to see how you do!

Bree, did you buy the software for calorie king?  Would you say it is worth the buy? I think I already had the trial version on my computer and now it is expired so I can’t use it free anymore.  Bummer.

Hey Jules! Just found your new thread. What a bummer about your Birthday. Glad you still got your workout it. Take care of that ankle. It will be all better soon if you lay off it for a bit longer. Good idea on starting a food journal. I have one at all times. If ya bite it ya gotta write it. Good luck!

I just found your new thread as well.  Patience is so hard to learn to acquire because we live in a society where we want things instantly.  But it can be very helpful to learn.  The way I look at it is it took time for me to put this fat on my body, so it is going to take time to take it off again.  You can learn a lot from a plateau, take the time to learn.  Good idea to do the food journal, that may help you out a lot on your journey.  Sorry to hear about the birthday not going your way.  But that is great that the next day you put on a great attitude and moved on.  Hard to do, but well worth it.  I hope your ankle gets better soon.  Keep on moving and in time that fat will have to surrender and just disapper.  Just curious did your husband step up to the plate and celebrate your birthday for you??  Tell him to make up for that he will need to cook you dinner for the next week.  Take care and have a great day.

I didn’t buy the software, I just use the free calorie calculator on the site. I know if I went for the upgrade, I’d just overcomplicate it.

Hey guys, thank for checking out my new thread!! means a lot since well, there isn’t really anybody here other than a 2 year old, and really, she isn’t much of a conversationalist.  My husband did step up when I told him he gets a “Do over”...he took me out to get coffee and well, we just spent a quiet night together reconnecting (No, “take the trash out” or daily simple chat) which was nice.  I informed him that next year “Meal duty” is all his.  I LOVE to cook but I confess, I have only ever had ONE MAN ever, EVER cook for me...and that happened once.  (Apparenly I dated the wrong kind of man...humph!)

Bree, I will check out the calculator, I know, it is SO EASY to get caught up in the fancy graphs, charts, software and such when it comes to keeping track of nutrition...but you are right, better to keep things simple.

I actually got up early this morning and got a workout in...I was proud of myself since lately I have been staying up too late.  I am a girl who would rather go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 530....I like the quiet time in the morning.  I have a whole heap of laundry I need to take care of, tidy up the bedroom and another workout to get in this afternoon.  Better get moving...my days go too fast!

Zookie,
Glad to hear that your man took the hint on the “do over” and did some really nice things for you.  Sounds like it was some well spent time together.  Hope he enjoys “Meal duty” next year.  Take care of yourself.

Hi Julie

I just saw this new thread.  It’s a great place to just do brain dumps because life is more than just about exercise.  I’m really proud of how much you have accomplished this past year.  I hope that 28 us going to be even better.  You had a great start by taking a situation that would have put you into a funk and creating better communication with your hubby.  Don’t worry, patience isn’t something that I have very much of either.  We just need to work around it and celebrate the progress we have made when we get impatient.

Take care of your self and stay moving.  I’m looking forward to reading more about your life here.
