Thanks Shawn and happy new year to you. I have been very busy with the new baby and the energetic toddler. The gym has been impossible but I plan to open up a new thread in 2008 and get moving again. Mind you life is no stop at the moment so I feel like I am moving but in a different way. Once Aaron sleeps through the night I can get the workouts in properly again. I will post though and see how much I can get in. I still have fitness and weight loss goals I want to achieve so I will keep at it. Thanks for the support!

Happy New Year, Kevin!

It looks like Life has certainly become a busier endeavor with two youngsters as going concerns. And, it also looks like you’re a Dad who’s commiting to sharing the experience of raising the kids right from day 1.  Well done, sir! I hope 2008 brings much good your way.  Hopefully, you’ll return to posting on the exercise challenge thread soon.

Take care,
cool smile

Ross, many thanks for your good thoughts. I am a hands on father so my time has not been my own for the last while since Aaron was born. However, I will be opening a new thread for 2008 this week. Keeping fit and healthy is essential I think to deal with the demands of job and family and to get a good balance. I have spent the last week forming my goals for the year so am ready to get going. Over the last year I have seen the very positive effects of getting regular excercise so i’m not going to give up now.

My excercise will be limited until the baby sleeps through the noght but I don’t think that should stop me getting out there when I can.

All the best for 2008 andthanks again.

I was going to ask the same thing - Shawn beat me to it.

THanks Paula and Shawn for thinking about me. I am back to excercising.

Day 89

45 min walk
Plus hosting a birthday party for a 2 year old which involved a few hours of back and forth to all the guests and 2 hours of cleaning up. I’m counting it as it felt like a workout. Great fun though and it is always worth it when you see the small ones having fun.

My excercise will be mostly walking and a little bit of gym work for the next while but I know I will do a lot more if I record it so bear with me.

Day 90
40 minute walk at lunchtime.

The weather was dry so I took advantage of it and went for a stoll. It will do me good to get back into excercising.

Day 90

40 minute walk at lunchtime. I’m glad I got out as it wasn’t possible in the evening. Caught up on some podcasts and put my ipod on shuffle. Got “the best is yet to come” by Sinatra. What a tune and made the walk worth the effort alone.

Thanks Shawn.

Day 91

40 minute walk at lunchtime.

Our new baby is 5 weeks old today and still keeps us up at night. I’m told that it starts to improve after 6 weeks so fingers crossed. I’d like to start to add light excercises to my regime in the next week.

Shawn, it is definitely easier on the second child. Because of the experience of the first it makes you both more relaxed and you can enjoy the experience more. With a toddler running around there is no rest so it keeps me moving.

day 92

Walk - 25 mins

Day 93

Rest day as the rain was torrential here.

THe weekend - despite the fact that it rained solidly from Friday to Sunday I managed to get more excercise this weekend than I have done since the start of December

Day 94

Walking in the rain - 1hr 10 mins all in all between two walks

Day 95

Gym

Treadmill - 20 mins (Shins acting up so had to stop)
Weights - 15 mins
Cycling - 35 mins

A good week in the circumstances. The coming week will be more of the same, using lunchtimes to stroll and try to get to the gym at the weekends with some gardening thrown in.

By the way the rain has gone this Monday morning so a walk is looking likely.

Thanks Shawn. I won’t be pushing the running for a while so my shins won’t be a problem.

Week so far -

Day 96 - 40 minutes walk
Day 97 - 40 minutes walk
Day 98 - 20 minutes walk

I am getting out every day for a walk. THe evenings are too busy at home still with Baby and toddler. Aaron is 6 weeks old today and everyone says it gets better from now on. He still has a lot of wind which means he finds it difficult to settle during the night. However, we have started taking him to an cranial osteopath who should be able to help. I am looking forward to the uninterrupted sleeps!

Hey Kevin, good to see you still make time to move. You may want to look into buying a new pair of runners, may be the reason for the shin problems.
