thanks Shawn. I’m getting there on the running. I managesd 20 minutes last night so I get to move on to week 6. It definitely works to improve the fitness. I was drenched in sweat afterwards but felt I had reached a milestone.

Day 46

Couch to 5k program - 20 minutes running
Cycling - 15 mins
Weights 30 mins

Trust me Kevin by the time yo get to the last week it’s not so bad, NB-it can be extremely boring on a treadmill. Good work!

Thanks Shawn. I’ll keep that in mind.

Day 48 Lesson learnt

I didn’t eat to exercise today and felt the effects in the gym. Though I eat healthily I didn’t have many carbs. I managed to stick it out but i’ll plan better in future.

Treadmill - running/Walking 30 mins
Weights - 25 mins
Cycling - 15 mins

Carbs are key, for sure.

Great workouts, Kev. This is really great work!

Thanks Brandon and Shawn. I appreciate the comments!

Day 49

40 minute walk at lunchtime

Day 50

Rest day

Day 51

Walking - 50 mins by the water on a beautiful crisp day.

Gym session

C25k program - 35 mins
cycling - 30 mins
Weights - 40 mins

This was a hard workput but I wanted to do as much as I could on my day off. finding the time to get a session in is my biggest challenge so when I have time I like to go for it. I have a little toddler at home and he keeps me busy. I put him to bed during the week so am running out the door to get the last hour/hour and a half in the local gym. It helps to be accountable on this forum, it means I turn up more than I would have.

Anyway, it was a good week in terms of my fitness. I can see some progress on the running and the weights. I would like to get 4 sessions in this week.

Day 52 - Monday night at the gym

I made a positive start to the week by getting down to the gym on a dark wet evening.

Running/Walking - 35 mins
Cycling - 25 mins
Weights - 10 mins

Given that there will be a lot going on between now and christmas, i’m going to try to get a few walks at lunchtime during the week.

Good stuff Kevin, it’s always good to try to sneak in that little bit of exercise here and there!

Thanks Shawn.

Day 54 - Wednesday

C25k program - 35 mins
Cycling - 15 mins
Weights - 50 mins

It was a good session in the gym. I did a lot of running and weights. It helped that I got to the gym earlier, was able to get my little boy to bed earlier as he was very tired and grumpy.
I had a good feed of pasta at lunchtime which gave me the energy to go further. I am so used to eating healthy food that trying a very good taliatelle Carbonara is a real treat. A great comfort food on a cold and rainy day. Yummy.

Great workout Kevin, Carbonara is really good if you don’t count the bacon, but you worked hard!

This is my wekend excercise. It was very busy with family stuff but I managed to move....

Day 57
Lumpyland workout - this involved taking 2 energetic toddlers to an indoor play centre and running/climbing etc for 2 hours. It felt great to be able to involve myself fully in the fun. I wouldn’t have been able to do that a year ago. I was able to get in a quick gym session in the afternoon and managed 25 minutes of running on the couch to 5k program. It was tough but this gets me to 4k so I am moving ion the right direction.

Day 58

50 minutes walk at a brisk pace. The day was chocabloc with family activities so I was happy to get in this walk. I slept soundly afterwards.

Day 61

Gym

treadmill 35 mins
weights 10mins
cycling 25 mins

My exercise was thrown a bit this week by a trip to the doctor. The energy levels aren’t what they usually are but I did manage to get to the gym last night. Hopefully i’ll be better in a few days.

I’m getting back to myself thankfully and the doctor didn’t find anything major wrong with me. I went on 2 long walks at the weekend to clear the cobwebs away but I took it easy otherwise. I have felt run down due to a hectic schedule in and out of work.

this is a big week for me as my wife is scheduled to give birth to our second child on THursday. I can predict that it will play havoc with my exercise for a few months. I hope to keep moving though in whatever way I can.
