Hi all - thanks Emmi & Shawn!

Still working out here at home, with the added exercises to my routine, along Rakio yesterday to fill up the green bin.  My kids have taken turns getting colds/sore throats.  This always seems to happen after Halloween - fatigue and extra sugar intake don’t mix, and the change in weather, sleep patterns and virus season just add to it.  I’ll play 3 sets of tennis with the ladies this morning, and take my son to the dr. this afternoon.  He’s off school today; he would have stayed home anyway, but at least this way he can rest and not feel guilty about missing classes and getting behind in his school work.

Have a great weekend all!

Glad to hear your being active Marcy, it amazes me how you can be super mom and still fit in three sets of tennis! Good Job!

Thank you, Shawn & Lisa!

WOW, look at the date!!!  It’s been a whole week since my last post!  Well, TGIF again to all.  Needless to say, this week seemed to evaporate, with early mornings and late evenings.  I worked last weekend, but the weekdays have been family, kids, backed-up paperwork, and oh yes, working out!  I’ve been doing added exercises, and interval running/walking with Ginger almost every day!  The weather’s still cooperating, so I still love to keep it outside (even if it’s at night with a flashlight, in which case it’s a fast walk, no running).  Today is 3 sets of tennis with the ladies again.  I’m back to doing crunches, but still being careful of the back.  I’ve lost 2 more pounds.

Hope you’re all doing well - I’ll look in on your threads.

Thank you Emmi & Shawn!  The weekend was great - where did it go?  Still got in long walks, working out here and tennis on Friday.  Loved it.  Hope you’re all doing great.  Today was a walk the mall day with my daughter, to get her new eyeglasses and spend some relaxed time together.  The best.

Take care, and wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thank you, Shawn!  Where does the time go?  Last week and weekend are a bit of a blur.  I cooked Thanksgiving dinner here, then we drove it all to my Aunt’s house (only 5 miles) and had dinner with the family there, as she couldn’t leave (my cousin in handicapped, and it’s difficult for him to travel).  Everyone was in good spirits, and for the first time in recent years, I didn’t feel totally stuffed like the bird after dinner.  I really took it easy and didn’t overdo it.

Some good news:  My chiropractor gave me a clean bill of health for my back a couple of weeks ago, and wanted me to start a new fitness program that involves personal training for back muscle strengthening, nutrition and lifestyle changes.  I am waiting for the approval from my dr. so that the training sessions will be covered (even though I’m not on an HMO, the ins. co. won’t pay without his referral).  The bad news:  I did crunches again last week, and tweaked my back again.  It’s not nearly as bad as last summer.  I went in for a chiro. appt. on Friday, and will again today.  Hopefully I’ll be back to normal this week.

Meanwhile, walks around the neighborhood will have to do.

Have a great week - I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Thank you, Shawn!  My back is much better.  Several chiro. adjustments, ice and rest did the trick.  I also went to his personal trainer for a session last Saturday, and learned some great exercises I can do on the machines at the gym, which I am starting today!  I did a 1 hour+ LSB yesterday for the first time in over a week, having to deal with the back and all.  I did go to Martial Arts last week and got some good kicks in, considering I was being very cautious.  Hopped on the scale today for the first time in about 10 days - lost 2 pounds!  My eating patterns have changed so much, and I think my matabolism has increased, so I’m going forward to try to build lean muscle mass.  The trainer also went over my nutrition with me, and I’m getting a balanced diet, but need more protein, so I’m adding that.  Also, making sure I eat something healthy every 3-4 hours.  So we’ll see how this takes me to the next physical transition.

Hope you all are having a great week,

Marcy, I was blown away by how little protein I was eating compared to what I needed to eat.  Is that the case for you too!  You are doing so well!!! Keep it up!

Thank you, Emmi, Lisa and Shawn!!!

I went to the gym today, and used the weight machines that were similar to the trainers.  They didn’t have one for the leg curls (laying on stomach, feet lifting the padded bar behind you).  Does anyone know of a similar exercise at home?  I’ll have to ask the trainer next week too.

Anyway, it felt good, but I know I didn’t do nearly enough.  I’ll have to set up an appointment with the trainer at the gym to review their equipment with me.

Take care all,

Marcy, when you go see the trainer ask them to make you a workout plan, that way you have some direction.

I don’t know why protein is such a struggle for me, seems like I like my carbs way too much...but hey, glad your back is better!!!
