Thanks, Shawn, for checking in with me. This past week, and the coming week were/are crazy schedules. Add to that my son’s neck was injured in flag football (a P.E. class, no padding or guards of any kind), and I’ve been preoccupied to say the least. He seems fine now, thankfully, and he’s been under dr.’s care, and can sleep again. Turns out flag football can be as rough as tackle football at times, not that it should be. He was going to pull the flag of the ball carrier (who is on the school football team), and the kid creamed him sideways to avoid the flag pull. Yes, we have been all over the teachers and administration reading them the riot act. They shouldn’t require it in P.E. unless they provide the proper gear and instruction. Turns out this kid had been warned several times about being too rough. My son missed P.E. for a week, and he is supposed to review a sports or health article each time he misses a class, so we looked up one on proper gear and padding for flag football to avoid injuries. Hopefully they will get the message.
I’ve been keeping up my daily walks and workout routines as much as possible. I’m “on” the violin about 6 hours a day between prep. time and work, so it can be a challenge. It felt good to get out and rake leaves the other day! Is that “rakio”?! It’s definitely “fall”.
Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend - I’ll check in on your threads,
Thanksfor your good wishes! It is October 25, I can’t believe it! The weeks are flying by. After next Monday I have a little break for November, at least on the work front. I’ve been keeping up the exercises as much as possible, but not enough, I’m stuck and haven’t lost a pound in over a week. Oh well, at least I haven’t gained anything! My silver lining at times like these is that my eating patterns are stable, and I don’t see that changing, it’s just a way of life now!
Hope you’re all well, I’ll check in on your threads. Have a great day!
Hi Marcy. Glad to hear that you’re getting a break soon. Don’t worry about the scale. It will move again. You’re body is just adjusting to it’s new level of fitness. You’re doing great!
I know what it’s like to be busy. Things have been crazy for me too. Just wanted to stop in and see how you’re doing. Good news about stabilizing your eating patterns. I think it’s half the battle if you can maintain. Then when you get back in the groove and lose a pound or two, it stays off. Eventually you will be at your target weight.
So glad to see you here! Thank you - I hear what you’re saying. Today’s the last crazy day!!! Yippee!!!!! My plans for the week are to start weight training and also get back out for my daily walks, LSB’s, and start the C25K program (still trying to get that onto my ipod).
Thanks! Yes, and now the pressure is off for a while - whew! I can’t believe how time is flying by - tomorrow is Halloween! Here’s the good news: I’ve had a grocery bag full of goodies (and some healthy stuff too), sitting in the wings for tomorrow’s Trick-or-Treaters, and have had absolutely no cravings for chocolate or sweets! I just love that, and have to admit I’m still kind of pleasantly shocked by it, except that I know I’ve worked to get to this point, so it’s extremely rewarding.
Thanks Emmi, Julie & Shawn - you’re the best! Hope you all had a fun Halloween; I’ll check in on your threads. My kids had a great time, got lots of candy, offered me some and I still declined!!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday I broke down and had two bites of Almond Joy. It was surprisingly not as tasty as I remember: good, but that was it, no cravings! And I really didn’t care to have any more.
Thursday I finally went to a Martial Arts class again. The kicking and moving around is different than my usual routine, so it’s a nice change. Yesterday I played three sets of tennis with the ladies. What fun! Today is vacuuming and cleaning; then I’ll get in a long walk with Ginger up our steepest hill. If I’m lucky, I time it to get to the top at sunset and I can see the whole bay. Great payoff!!!! Starting weights at the gym this week. I especially need to work on back muscles - the chiropractor will be having me start a training routine as soon as I get the okay from my physician, probably in a couple of weeks. Then I can take what I learn to the gym and work it into a regular routine. The good news is my back is now healthy enough to do this, and there’s “less” of me to hold me back!!!
I had a great weekend, cleaning, walking, exercising here. Ginger and I took our favorite “wogs” - up and down the hills, and I got a good cardio workout at my tennis lesson yesterday!
Sounds like you had a great weekend Marcy! I hope you have a really good week and that you get lots of “wogs” in! I’d love to walk those hills someday! Never been to San Fran!
Thanks! Yes, these hills are fantastic. When the weather turns wet, I’ll head to the gym, but for now I prefer to be outside and with Ginger, and the sunsets are to die for. I can’t complain about the weather, especially hearing about all the freezing weather in other parts of the country/continent.
Emmi, are you a Buckeyes fan? If so, congrats - aren’t they ranked #1? I am a Trojan, so I wouldn’t say this to just anybody!!!!! You are special, so good luck!
Yesterday, I exercised here, but added three new exercises for abs, legs, posterior. It felt good to add on to the existing routine.
