Hello fellow movers, thought I had better introduce myself after lurking on and off for a few months.  I found MTM through iTunes as I had been listening to the Daily Boost for a few months as I am interested in the motivational life stuff.  howver, after reading some of the stories here decided to restart my health plans also.  I will turn 34 in Nov and currently weigh 202lbs....but more importantly I feel heavy.  Last year I trained through the winter and completed the London Marathon in April this year (I am from the UK).  I raised over $6000 for charity but suffered throughout training with IT band problems which resurfaced at mile 9 of the 26.  Needless to say it was a long and painful day, with too much walking, but I finished the distance.  However, since April I have done squat and I have put weight back on.  I recently got married and have made a vow to get myself fit as I dont want to be a slob Dad!

I went out for my first run in 5 months yesterday, have a podiatrist appointment in a few weeks to sort my feet out and signed up for the 5K event with Team MTM.  I am also doing a half marathon in Feb so better get off my arse and start moving wink

Earlier in the year I felt better than I had in months so know the benefits - my problem has always been sticking with it....but I am sure with the support here I can.....

Hi Charffers!

Welcome to MTMLand!  You have obviously proven to yourself that you can go the distance!  Completing the London Marathon is a very impressive accomplishment!

I’ll echo Shawn’s suggestion - why not set up a thread for yourself in the 100 Days of Exercise Challenge forum.  It’s amazing how helpful it is to get the “atta-boys” coming in when you post your progress.  (Oh, and random silliness often arises as well!) LOL

I’m glad you’re here!

Hi and welcome to MTM.  This is a fantastic supportive community.  Congratulations for completing a marathon.  Most people never accomplish that.  I"m glad to see that you are getting back into the exercise habit.  Be careful with the injuries.  As you have already experienced being in pain isn’t very motivating.  Make sure you look into some low impact cross training opportunities that will also be fun and will protect your body from stress injury.

Hope to see you on the 100 day challenge.

Thanks guys - I suppose I was hesitant about putting up a 100 day post as I was worried I would be terrible at updating it wink

The community spirit of this forum’s taking a little getting used to....For years now I have tended to be a very solitary exerciser, which probably explains most of the failings over the years.  The truth be told I was in great shape when I was in the military and every year since have slipped.  But I am determined to put that right.

Actually following the success of my last “100 day Slobbing Challenge” (15lbs gain, improved beer consumption and a real reduction in exercise) this should be a walk in the park .....

Welcome in from the lurking weeds charffers!~
As you know the community of MTM’ers can prove to be a valuable asset in your quest to attain your goals.  They provide quite a bit of accountability which in turn can be your motivation to get going. I mean if you know the world is watching you’ll want to get up and get going, right?  So come on take the plunge and belly up to the 100 day challenge and don’t be worried, think of us as a cyber group of friends, interested in your progress, cheering you on and supporting you along the way. And now that we have the introductions out of the way, let’s talk hand pumped cask conditioned English ales grin After your first 100 days, I’ll buy the first cyber round!

And congrats on finishing the London M!

Welcome aboard!
