Hello

I’ve been having trouble getting rid of an extra 10lbs that I gained late last year and would like anyone’s opinion, suggestion or comments.

1) I’m wondering if exercising in the evening, after dinner as I do is reducing the impact of the workout.  Should I workout first, then eat

2) What is the down side, if any to not eating after a workout?  I keep reading how you have 45 minutes to eat, but I want to lose weight, so shouldnt I just not eat?

RS, I don’t think that working out after dinner affects the impact of the workout, you need to fuel up before you work out, with the sudden expenditure of energy you will be burning your dinner, only other thing I can add is try to eat an 1 to 2 hrs before hand, this way your meal is metabolized and you will be burning what you ate.
After your workout I suggest you have a small snack, most people have protein shakes, do a search on the internet for “recovery meals” if your not into the protein thing, this help in a couple of ways; it keeps your metabolism running fast and also helps with your recovery.

RS I also wanted to ask you how many calories do you eat in a day? One of the major causes of stalls is not eating enough. Check your BMR and knock off anywhere from 250 to 1000 calories off the number, take it off 250 calories at a time, when the scale starts to move you stop. Note: give it time before you start removing calories, say 250 a week.

NB- 500 to 1000 is considered extreme.

I like to think of my working out between bedtime and supper as just another way of using the sleep fat burning mode. When you work out then go to bed, you are going to burn just as much fat as getting up and working out with no eating in between. And I always wake up very hungry, which tells me how well this works. So eat supper with the knowledge that you are doing your body good, and that you’ll use the fuel up before bed. Bonus!

After a snack, I would wait 15-20 minutes, and after a meal like dinner, I would wait 45-60 minutes.
