I intend to run late afternoon on Sunday at about 4 PM.  We’re GMT + 1 here in the UK so it’ll be about 11 Sunday morning Eastern time in New York.

I’ve had a slight change of plan.  I tore something in the back of my left thigh a few days ago (yes, I was going too fast).  It appears to be recovering and I have run a few miles and done some drills.  But I don’t trust myself to run in an organised race.  I’m too competitive and I know I won’t be able to resist racing.  Instead I’ll be running a measured 13.1ml route from home.  My route is on http://www.mapmyrun.com just enter Wokingham and UK and you should find it amongst “Phoenixflyer”.  Mostly off road in woodland country paths.

My commitment is to the World Wide Half, to Steve Runner, to you all at Team MTM and to Team Elijah.  I don’t need to take the risk of unnecessary injury.  If I have any problems I’ll just walk the remainder.  But I will do it.  And there will be photos.

This is the strangest thing I’ve ever been involved in, but it somehow feels right.

Good luck everyone, can’t wait to hear the stories afterwards and see the photos.

Good luck on your run Ross and everyone else!

Just got back from my run, 5k in 36 minutes, I was a bit disappointed, so I decided to recheck, when I found that I ran close to 3.5 miles in 36 minutes!  grin LOL

Hey all!  Happy half marathon weekend!  We had so much fun this morning.  We ran the 5K at the Lake Joe Pool run, which included a 1 mile fun run option, a 5K option and a 10K option.  Nathan, Lori’s brother Craig and his wife Michelle and I went.  It was nice to go to an event with family and have some peeps to hang out with.  The last 5K I did in September I ran in 37:22, so I wanted to try to get under 35 minutes for this one.  It was a nice, cool, breezy morning and the route was really nice.  It went through the woods and the park and along the lake.  I felt good with all the running practice I’ve been doing and I ran almost the first 10 minutes straight!  After that, I started scaling back until I got to this week’s pace of run 4 minutes walk 2.  I finished strong, feeling good and my time was 34:48!  It is a personal best for me.  Never in my life have I run this much, or this fast, ever since I’ve been tracking it.  I’m really proud of my finish.  After getting my chip removed from my shoe, I looped around and cheered on other runners nearing the finish line.  I cheered on the other Loves (again, it was nice having my posse there with me).  They also really enjoyed the morning.  Nathan and Craig enjoyed pancakes and bacon, while Michelle and I had bananas and granola bars.  We got a flyer for another 5K on November 24 and we agreed to do that one together too.  I’m really looking forward to another good time with my family and also beating my new personal best.  I hope everyone enjoys their run this weekend as much as I did.  Take care!

Congrats Liz on your PR, it sounds like you had so much fun!!!

I did a 32:56 5k today, definitely a little disappointed, but if I factor in the wind I guess it’s not that bad. I knew it wasn’t possible to beat my PR of 27:49 because of the wind, but I knew I could have done better. Anyway, it’s over, I still had a good run, I’ll do better next time!

I laughed so hard after I posted my results, and looked to see how everyone else did. I ran the exact same time as Christina! 32:56! I was thrilled, the furthest outside I ran was 1 mile, and the fastest I’d run a 5k on the treadmill was just under 34. As I was nearing the finish line, I looked at my watch and saw I could maybe make it in under 33 minutes if I pushed it, so I went for it. The weather was perfect, cool, cloudy, and no wind or humidity. I had a few groups of onlookers, 2 teenage girls who were a tad pudgy watched me run the whole thing (half mile loops), and were near the finish line. They’d stop talking and watch me as I ran by, felt good.

When I got done, I almost cried. I can honestly say I had never in my wildest hopes thought I would or could do this. This was big for me, and having all of you “with” me was a huge help. The shout out from Tom was a plus! I haven’t finished listening to the show, had to come and check on my team first!  Some day I want to run with you all in person.

Great job Bree! I noticed we had the same time on the 5k too and that’s so funny! Great job Bree of blowing your goal of 35 min out of the water! Heehee I’m tickled pink, what’s the probability that someone on this forum would get the same time as I did?

Great job Christina and Bree.  That is pretty amazing that you both, out of our small slice of everyone doing this this weekend, would get the same time.  It must mean something!  wink

Shawn, I hope you have a great run today.

Congratulations everyone.

I’m all done and dusted as well.

13.1mls in 1:52:57.

Beautiful day here in Southern England, temperatures well above the seasonal average.  Our recent night-time lows of 52f or 11c is what we would expect as a daytime high this time of year.  Instead we had a daytime high around 64f or 18c and a lovely sunny day.

My run didn’t exactly go to plan, my thigh/hamstring problem re-occurred after just one mile and I slowed from my scheduled 8min/ml pace to nearer 10min/ml.  But I carried on and eventually my hamstring eased and I speeded up again to come home in an average of 8:37min/ml pace.

I felt really bad that I didn’t run last year but I just wasn’t up to it.

I’m so proud that I’ve been able to do this run this year and I’m really proud to have been a part of Team MTM.

What’s next?

Congratulations everyone!  You guys are all so inspiring to me!  grin

I walked my 5K this morning and did the 3.1 miles in 1 hour and 14 minutes.  Next year, I hope to be running this sucker!  grin

Has anyone else listened to the Phedippidations podcast for this week?  I listened while I walked and it was great!  I heard a couple of familiar names on there (TominCarlsbad and Zookie!) Did anyone else get a mention?

Good going everyone!!  I’m so proud of you all!!

Great job Judy!!  I’m glad I wasn’t the only walker.  I’m sure you’ll run it easily next year. No problem.

I walked my 5k this afternoon in 1 hour 11 minutes.  My sister went along with me for moral support.  She really pushed me along and kept me going.

I got a mention?!?  I don’t subscribe to the podcast....but hey, glad I got a mention, I kicked butt with my 5K and patted myself on the back....nice to have an extra hand or two.
