It’s getting decidely chilly here in the UK, especially in the the early mornings.

There is nothing like running outdoors.  I doubt that our temperatures and humidity ever compare to Tennessee but even in the height of summer it’s still great.  I remember running in the midday heat a few months ago and being amused that on a very familiar run I was having to change sides of the road to run in the shade.

So long as have micropore tape over my nipples (lots of runners do it, it’s not that strange) and vaseline on my toes, I’m off.

Plenty of weak isotonic drinks to counteract the sweat.  Bring it on.

I’m just off to check the atlas to see where exactly Tennessee is.

And if you think anyone is going to be looking at you they’re not.  Of those that do, half, like me, are saying “go on girl” and the other half are thinking; “I really want to do that”

Thanks, Christopher! I made the run outside today! I did around a mile, stayed in my little subdivision, I’ll drive it later to get an exact distance for reference. Hubby had to leave for work at 6:30, so yep, I was up at 5:30 getting ready. It definitely wasn’t hot, but still humid. Shorts and a tank were perfect.

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Hey guys,
OK the 5K for the weekend has officially been picked.  It’s the Lake Joe Pool 5K this Saturday and I’ll be running with my sister-in-law.  Cool!

Phoenixflyer: good advice about people looking.  I think you’re right, they’re either cheering you on or wishing they could do what you are.

Bree: again, great job on getting out to run.  Your body will get used to it.

Thanks for that Suzzy.

This time last year I thought I’d never run a half marathon again, especially at my age (49), but you just never know what life has in store for you.

All I ever wanted was to be able to run five miles and there were many times when I couldn’t even do that.  But I never gave up.

Once you master the basics and get your body used to a certain level of exercise it’s amazing how quickly you can step up to the next level.

It’s all about consistancy and making it part of your life, if you can.

I’ve never read anything by Zig Ziglar, I must look out for him.

I’ve heard of him but that’s probably been from Scott has it?

Thanks again.

Hey there, all:

I’ve signed up for the half marathon; my calculation has me completing 13.1 miles in 131 minutes @ 6.5 mph or 112 minutes @ 7.0 mph.  cool hmm  If I complete it ... it’ll be a ‘never done’. I think I’m going to need a shake or something to eat half way through.  My plan is to get a good rest but to do the run as early in the morning as possible.  I’m thinking the Dave Matthews - Tim Reynolds concert is new enough to sustain me throughout.  Probably 4-5 bottles of water will do the trick.  Wish me luck!!
ohh  cool smile
