Just thought I would throw a question out to everyone. Scott was talking about muscle failure and a question popped into my head. Do you go to muscle failure every set or muscle failure by the last set?

I’m not a professional or an expert by any means, but my goal is muscle failure by the last set.  When I achieve true muscle failure, there is no way I could continue for 3 more sets without injuring myself - I’m done.

I look forward to seeing everyone else’s post on this subject - grin

Did someone say muscle failure?  I’ve got a little of that going right now.

Here’s the deal…

Your muscles will fail with every set.  In other words, you’ll run out of steam and not be able to push anymore.  Then the magic happens.

The extra effort caused your muscles to recruit additional fiber to help it out with the job at hand.  That’s why you can lift another set.

The goal is to recruit as much muscle fiber as possible and then tucker them all out.  That is true failure… when you can do any more at all.

Hope that helps.
