In more ways than one going to work can be an annoyance.

Case in point: today when I came into work, a thin and super healthy woman brought in two boxes of Little Debbie desserts!!!
I’m proud to say that I didn’t have any--I didn’t even go over to the area where they were! I ate my grapes and carrots, and all the good stuff I packed for myself last night.

But still, why oh why does a person who refuses to eat something like that buy it for others? I suppose it’s generous because many people really appreciated it, but this is about me and I didn’t. wink

Something tells me I’m not the only person who works with junk-food-aholics…

Here I come to save the daaaaay!  “It’s Super healthy Woman”.  Damn her and Little Debbie too!

And why does a person like that buy it for others?

Ever thought she’s really being thoughtful?  Or… maybe they were on sale in the day old department… or.... her son brought them home from school and she said...."Not in my house”.  Or maybe… she’s trying to sabitage you.

Sorry… I just got going for a minute.  Must be the sugar rush.

I was actually standing in the grocery store the other day in front of the Little Debbie section wondering who actually buys them.  Now I know.

And… I am right there with you.  A card carring member of junk-food-aholics and the weekend is almost here.

Thanks for sharing newbie.  I’m glad you’re around MTM Land.

Now see, Scott...I almost put in my post that she’s not married and has no children. wink

She’s actually very sweet and I KNOW she was being generous, but I found it funny that everyone who sounded off about them, even as they stuffed them in their mouths, said, “Why did SHE bring these? That’s not fair. She doesn’t even eat them!” Life’s ironic like that.

The coolest thing though is that I’m rapidly earning my “Super Healthy Woman” cape, too. Ha! smile

Hi Voldoria!  Welcome to MTM!

I totally see where Scott is coming from on this one (well, maybe except that last option).  My mom’s a teacher and gets tons of chocolates and candies from her grade-one students.  Sometimes she’ll eat them (they’re tasty, don’cha know?), but sometimes she’ll bring them to family gatherings or other parties as “gifts.” She knows they’re not good for her, but knows that other people like them, so… best of both world!  Share and make people happy with a bit of a treat!

Congrats on your commitment to not eating them!  And congrats on that cape!  Hey, I bet soon you’ll have saved enough material to make two… can I have one? *grin*

I too have many “VERY GENEROUS PEOPLE” at my work. There can be weeks where something is brought in every day and left in the lunch room. Angry mobs formed this week when one person packed up the left overs from a pizza party and removed them to their office. Much talk of revenge.

These people too don’t seem to have a problem with eating junk, yet staying relatively thin. I take satisfaction in the fact that, no, in fact it will catch up to everyone some day.

I have little problem staying away from such temptations. It’s the “pushers” that drive me nuts! Most people I work with, are aware I eat healthy and will even quote; “Craig doesn’t eat that crap!” I guess I’ve said it enough and it’s stuck. There are still those, well meaning, I’m pretty, almost, maybe, sure, who don’t get it. “Come on, have a little.” , “One bite won’t hurt” and/or “You’ve got to try it”

My advice and action is to remove myself from the danger zone. Let others go in, like land-mine sweepers, and clear the area of all Little Debbie diet ruining devices. Maybe send in an advance scouting party to give you the all clear.

Good luck.

Oh no, now I’ve got images in my head of men in containment suits holding geiger counters that have been modified to “click” when they sense processed sugars!  “Send in the S-team!” (sugar-team) And I see them stumbling across a Little Debbie cake and freezing, then veeeerrry carrrrefullly taking it with tong and placing it in a “biohazard” bag, from which it can be disposed properly.

And to top it all off, I see one junk-food-aholic (obviously not anyone reading this board!) crawling after them on hands and knees, screaming, “No!  Bring back the Debbies!”

I can’t stop laughing!

See, Scott, I have imagination! smile
