Hi n2lose,
Welcome to the forums!  I can totally relate to you; I started my weight loss journey around the same age and had many of the same fears, excuses and insecurities.  I think you have good goals lined up and just remember: just show up and keep moving.  You can do it!

Chana, welcome to MTM land!

It sounds like you’ve got really great reasons behind your decision to lose weight, and that’s one of the most important things.

The longer you hang around MTM land, the more you’ll find that the people here are really supportive and encouraging.  If you haven’t already, check out the 100 Days of Exercise Challenge forum: it’s a great way to maintain accountability along your journey.  And if you want to share your thoughts, try the Journal of Your Journey forum, which is also wonderful.  (Heck, I think everywhere on MTM land is wonderful, but I’m a moderator and it sort of comes with the territory. smile )

Please do keep us updated.  You don’t have to go through this alone: we’re all here cheering for you.

Cheers,
Julie

Hi Chana, and welcome.

It sounds like you already have lots of reasons to lose the weight and get healthy.  You have a great goal and are taking the first steps of a long journey, so take a deep breath and hang on for the ride.  Just take one day at a time and enjoy everything that life has to offer on the way.  I’m looking forward to the day that you are back in those size 10 jeans.

Hi Chana,

Welcome to MTMLand!  grin

Good for you for standing up and taking the first steps!  Pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself!

I’m sure you’ll find that participation here in the forums will be a wonderful source of support as you keep taking those baby steps in the direction of your dreams.

What other goals for your life (besides ones about your weight and body) do you have?  The “whys” behind your desire to get fit will really help pull you forward.

I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to seeing your progress!  grin

Welcome, Chana! You have a great routine! Those results will come in no time. Can’t wait to congratulate you on the next jean size, then the under 200! You can so do this.

Thank you for the welcome!  I am looking forward to a forum that I truly feel supports me.  I have tried others but never felt like I fit in.  Thanks for the info on different threads to visit.  The forum looks big and quite overwhelming, I had no idea where I should start.

Just did a 45 minute walk, the longest walk I have done to date.  I’m trying not to do too much too soon.  I’m having days already where its really hard, I just don’t want to do it.  Usually once I start walking it’s pretty easy to finish it.  My results have been very small and I feel no difference in my clothing size, looks etc.  I’m hoping to start seeing results soon.

I will keep in touch.  As I said earlier, I am really not happy with my looks and don’t like to ‘flaunt it’.  I’m hoping to soon gain the confidence to post my pic.  But that may take a while.

Flaunt away, dahling, you are a gorgeous women whose about to show the world her true self. Act “as if” you’re already thin and hold that head high! Add a little shimmy and shake, appreciate yourself, I’m sure those boys do. There is nothing sexier than a woman with confidence, regardless of size or appearance. Allow yourself to visualize your soon to be fit and firm self. Drink it in, hold on to it, and use it to get you up and out the door! Keep doing this, and you will one day look at her in the mirror. I did. It also helps me to go onto the 100 days forum and read there a bit when I need the extra boost. The enthusiasm comes through the computer and gets me wanting to move.

How do you pronounce Chana?

Chana,

I ssssoooo understand!  I have used the same excuses and have pretty close to the same goals.  I also tend to avoid others due to the way I view myself, physically. Hang in there, you are in good company!  I’ve been at it a month and haven’t seen a lot of change yet, but I’m certain its only a matter of time… Just waiting for that “click” and the light bulb to go on excaim See you around the boards!

Welcome Chana. I too relate to all that you have stated especially the hiding from life and not attending events due to the shame. So many folks offer such great support on this forum to keep me moving. I have only been around MTM for about 6 weeks and my pic is a cartoon of a pudgy gal on a treadmill. Your picture days can wait, it is the commitment to the movement that will give you the confidence - that you have started already.  Great job on getting the direction and starting!
