Bree, Denise, and I want to get control over the sugar in our diet - want to join in?
Today, so far, I’ve done good, no sugar at all. I found a really good herbal tea called Apple Cinammon Spice. It’s really good both cold and hot; it can definitely take the place of my sugar tea…
Count me in too. Since I ate myself into type II diabetes, I’m gonna have to eat myself out of it, and step one is no sugar. Not a tea drinker, but sugar free French Vanilla Coffee Mate sure is making the morning easier to take.
The candy jar on my desk is filled with almonds, and the breakfast bars are Atkins brand with nearly no sugar (buy them at Costco).
Day 1...Sugar free. Mostly because there is none in the house and I didn’t go out. I did have cravings so I ate watermelon. It always fills me up and I love the sweet taste without going into a diabetic coma.
Denise,
Good job going sugar-free for day one! That’s a good way of doing it, “none in the house and I didn’t go out” ~ however for me, it would be have to be “out of sight"… or “out of my reach”, I’m somewhat vertically-challenged Perhaps that’s how I’ll make it through day one…
Day one for me is off to a good start, instead of coffee this morning I had tea (thanks Deb for the suggestion!). I find coffee too bitter without the sugar & tea for me is fine just straight.
Day 1, no sugar done. Day 2 is going well. I’m still using Splenda in my coffee, but that’s not sugar, and I can’t function without coffee. I put cranberries in my cereal this morning. I haven’t used real sugar to sweeten things in years, I’m so bad on the sweets. But if it has sugar as main ingredient (or anywhere near the top), I’m calling it off the list. I have more energy already.
Church is going to be a test tonight, there’s always goodies to be had. And the kids always want to know why you don’t eat something, I’ll tell them I’m doing a dare.
I’m also thrilled at how many of us are doing this! See what a good influence you are, Deb?
We went out for dinner, and I usually have a diet pepsi, and put in a bit of cherry pepsi for extra yumminess. Well, I did that tonight and had it half drank before I realized that I just had sugar… I’m going to have to be a little more conscious when I go out…
I know what you mean about church, Bree, they always have good/bad stuff to eat…
Glad you liked the tea suggestion SK, I don’t like coffee, I’m not fond of regular tea either, but some herbal tea is pretty good.
No sugar during breakfast, instead I had some fruit & tea (Oo Long-it’s a form of chinese tea)
For lunch had a salad, with sliced chicken breast & dressing on the side
Dinner was perogies, chicken & more salad…
We baked a Rhubarb/apple crisp this afternoon but I convinced the BF that we should take it to his parent’s house… we might be visiting tomorrow…
So today I was good and managed not to consume any sugar! Yeah for me.
Deb, it’s amazing how sugar can really sneak into our diets. I’m a table parent (one adult at a table with a bunch of kids) and there’s a pitcher of tea on the table. Out of habit I almost grabbed the tea, and there was cake. I love the cake, but passed it up. I had the grapes.
I love the cake, but passed it up. I had the grapes.
Day 2 down. 12 more to go.
Good choice Bree! Fruit is sometimes just as satisfying…
During our walk tonight, my BF suggested ice cream. I declined & so did he! Which is totally surprising, instead we had some crab apples from a tree in the backyard.
No added sugar for me, food has enough already. I did allow myself a white nectarine tonight. Ummmmmm for the fiber...yeah, that’s it...fiber! I’m going to have to be especially vigilant since I’m injured right now and not really able to do cardio.
Today I was really craving the sweets. I wanted quick energy, and we’re out of fruit. So I made some coffee and called it good. Had an early supper too, that really helped the cravings. Late afternoon is when I really want sweets. But I will come through this. I have to.
Bree
By the way, great job Deb, SK, and Jeff! Knowing you guys are doing this too is helping. And I really appreciate that.
