I get the click thing, but I tend to click on and off if you know what I mean.
I have had more dead end streets in the weight arena than I can count. Something changed over the last year and I lost 52 lbs. on WW Core Plan surprisingly by increasing the amount of food I eat daily. I was lurking in the shadows around this site since May of this year. I’ve been moving now regularly since July 1, joined as Premium Member on July 22, started my 100 day challenge on July 23. I have taken every piece of advice offered and implemented same. I log food intake on fitday (Thank you TomCarlsbad) calculated my bmr and subtracted 500 for a daily level of 1500-1600. Anxious for MTM to offer that here soon. I have many more good-er days than bad-er. I stopped weighing myself every other day and have taken the body measurements recently. The scale plays with my head too much and the weight seems at a standstill since I started moving. My plan now is to weigh in every two weeks. I stick primarily to 60 minute LSB four to five times a week with some free weights for the upper body and arms. I drink water all day long. I track my heart rate (today my 20 year old monitor registered my heart rate at 60 bpm while I was at my top speed) so I ordered a new polar monitor - free overnight shipping (Thank you JudyPatooty!) I have listened to every MTM, Daily Boost and Afterburner available at least twice and plan to re-listen to them all for as long as it takes. I have picked up the Principles of Success, The Secret and numerous other positive reads- I will listen and read anything to get and keep me motivated and feeling good - in the ON click mode.

I’ve lived too long overweight, old and inactive - for almost 15 years now. I once was an active person - biking, walking, skiing, swimming, racquet sports, volleyball, etc.... then life got in the way.  I’ve got such a looooong way to go to return to full health-at least 80 lbs to burn off this body.  I need to do this before I get Type 2 Diabetes or other health problems.
Here I am now in a public forum sharing my struggle- there was a time I would have thought this was a totally foolish thing to do. I can no longer hide - been doing that for way (weigh) too long.
This is all about changes for me. Changing the negative thinking. Changing my comfort level mentally and physically. I am babbling like a brook now but before I sign off .....Thanks to all of the great moderators and fellow members who interact with support when one jumps in here at MTM - it makes it so much easier to continue in this quest for a person like me so accustomed to hiding.

I still don’t know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I’d got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me...

I understand clicking on and off but you’re on the right track here.  That little extra kick of accountability will help keep you in line.  Don’t get bogged down with the numbers.  You didn’t gain 80 lbs overnight so be patient.  With consistent changes in the right direction you’ll slowly see changes and weight loss.  You don’t want to lose it fast anyway because you’ll get saggy skin.

Best of luck in your journey to good health.

Sounds like you’re definitely clicked on right now, and going to stay that way. Good for you! I look forward to the day when I read about that standstill being over and your weight dropping more, it’ll come, you’re doing everything right. The real question is ... how do you feel?

Thanks to you all for dropping by and leaving so many encouraging words.

I did not physically move that much this week as in the prior ones, first week like this since prior to July 1. I did however begin to move on my work situation. I actually asserted myself and requested a raise. That is HUGE for me. Since I have begun physically moving so have many other aspects of my thinking. I feel much less fearful. I would have thought that change would only come when I got to the healthy weight (80 pounds more).

It was an unsettling week for me - the raise thing, my son leaves to go back to college on Sunday, the end of the summer season. I am really looking forward to the structure of September. Heck I don’t have to wait till September - I renew my commitment to me and to the daily 60 LSB and to a healthy weight-losing style of eating - right here and right now.

I am going for a blood test early in the morning tomorrow. Concerned about being overweight, over 40, and the possibility of Diabetes 2 - so rather than fear it I picked up a script to have the fasting glucose test done to check it out.

I will be on my treadmill at 5:30 am with my brand new Polar HR monitor - then to the 7:30 test after which I am grabbing the first cup of coffee I can get my hands on.

Congratulations in asking for a Raise.  You obviously deserve it.

I always thought of September as the New Year more than January.  Maybe it is because I was a student so long, then a teacher.  Nothing like a new year for renewing your commitment to your health and fitness program.  Remember that everything you have done also counts, you’re not starting over, you’re just getting a fresh focus.

The changes you have experienced impact your life now.  These changes aren’t dependent on you reaching a number on the scale, it’s your instant gratification that comes from your ;new approach to life.  Enjoy and use this success as motivation to continue.  The theme is “Live Begins When You Move” It’s not “Life Begins When You Weight XXX”.  You’re moving now .....................

Good job in asking for a raise!!!  Also good for you in getting that test done as well!!!  Not always easy to do, but very important to do so that you know where you are at health wise, so good for you in getting that done.  Keep on moving and you will do just fine.

Thanks Paula and Scooby...as I make these changes it is a bit fearful and I do get stressed. I also feel empowered and out in the world. These are important things and all related to keeping things moving.

A total disaster of a week nutritionally and fitness wise. Negotiating a raise with boss. Negotiating on other matters involving lawyers. Dad’s 80 birthday. Just the right mix of stress and EZ is off and running but not on the treadmill....Off and running to my old best friend..bad food! Once the bad food is in the tank the body does not want to move at all. End result: everything stinks. I still have not reached that point with my movement that when stuff (life) gets in the way to then choose to move so at least my body will feel better. The stuff in life will always be at play to one degree or another.
Today is DAY 41 Saturday - 2 mile mountainous walk outdoors, then strolled the malls a bit. Food choices greatly improved and I’m back here posting. I’ll call it a new day.
Do I go back to Day 1 in my count or keep it at 41?
It will take a few days to get the sugar out of my system. Good news is that my glucose test does not yet indicate diabetes.
I simply must get the belief that I can lose all this weight and keep at the movement. I must believe that I will reach my goals. I am only just starting to really analyse just what my goals are. I know how much weight I want to lose and what level of fitness I am heading towards but the other parts of my life are at a crossroads.

Dusting myself off from the fall of the healthy living wagon and getting back on the trail again.
Here are some things I am grateful for:  great weather today, my home, my son and daughter pursuing their dreams and building lives, more money, my faith, the ability to have hope and choice.

I cleaned out garage today.  Every muscle hurts.  I pulled my elbow/arm muscles - tennis elbow and it sure hurts.
Took me hours of heavy lifting and cleaning.  It felt good to get organized though.
Back to work tomorrow.  Enjoyed the down time of the last few days but I sure do better (with movement and eating) with structure.
Today was good-er.  I am slowly adjusting back to my healthy routine.

Good attitude in dusting yourself off and starting a new slate and continuing to move.  Don’t worry too much about the mistakes you have made.  It is over and done with, time to move forward again.  I would still continue to count at Day #41.  Just remember try and be more gooder than badder.  Good job in cleaning out your garage.  What a great way to get a good workout.  Also good job on your 2 mile mountinous walk that sounds like lots of fun.  Continue to move and it will become a life time habit that will always be with you!!  Keep on moving!! You are doing really well.

Thanks Scooby and Paula for your support. I am still in the good-er mode and moving again.
That garage of mine looks great - everything has a place, I moved my freezer and all back up products up there from the basement. I put a rug on the floor and set up my Joe Weider exercise machine out there with posters on various routines to do on it. (I had to take inches of dust off the unit as I have not put it to use in over six years.) I feel like I’ve added another room to my house.
I am scheduled for outpatient procedure in the morning so I will be down for a good 24 hours. I feel a bit angry about being off my routine but I need these tests done to confirm all is well.
My boss and I are scheduled for another round of negotiations next week and the other matters are still in flux. I have been riding this wave for some time now and the fact that nothing is getting settled is upsetting to me. I keep telling myself that eventually, one way or another, things will reach conclusion - I may not like the conclusion but it will settle out.
Everytime I come across Paula’s photo on the kayak I recall one glorious day a few years back when I went out on a kayak with a friend at her shore house on the bay. I loved being on the water and the stability of the kayak. It was a double seater and we seemed to glide across the top of the water. I am officially putting kayaking on my list of things I want to do to enjoy my life.
I am so thankful that we have all this new format and material today. I cannot seem to get enough of the information and motivation.

The great thing about life is that there is always an outcome.  I loved Scott’s advice on looking at different outcomes and going through the what if this happens, how will I feel, what will I do.  That has been a big help in choosing how I want to act and what will work the best for the situation and to avoid being reactive and emotional.

The double kayaks are very stable in the water.  Mine is a single and therefore much tippier, but then upside down is just another perspective of being right side up.  If you choose to try kayaking, I strongly recommend taking a basic lesson to learn how to be safe while having lots of fun.

Thanks Paula. Good advice, I will definitely take a course before venturing out on a kayak myself. There are lots of classes in my area or within an hours drive.

Medical procedure went well yesterday. So glad it is over with. Fun day planned - driving into NYC with friends to dine at a really great restaurant and see a Broadway play.
