That’s so funny that you read in your bathroom! The only room with a lock on the door right?

You got that right Kayll!

Thanks Shawn.  I’m down another one since then.  Just weighed again this morning.  I always lose the first week but seem to struggle after that.  We’ll see how it goes.

23 more to go

Thanks Mel and Shawn!  Keep cheering me on.  I need all the help I can get.

I had a good weekend.  Sunday we went to my sister’s house to have one last party by the pool before school starts.  She made fajitas, margaritas and for dessert she had frozen yogurt and berries over angel food cake.  It wasn’t hard at all to behave and still enjoy myself.

I had a good talk with my trainer tonight while he was killing me in the weight room.  I made sure I told him again that I’m on a serious diet and plan to lose 25 lbs by Christmas.  He said, “Is that all?  Piece of cake!” Well, the piece of cake is the whole problem here.  grin Because he knows I’m trying to lose he is pushing me to my limits.  It’s so hard but I feel great when I’m able to complete my workout.  Also, telling him is one more person to be accountable to.  I’ve posted it here, told my family and my trainer so now if I don’t do it I’ll have all of those people to answer to.  So I have to do it!

It was weird at the gym tonight.  People are walking up to me just to say hi and ask me about how much I lift.  Apparently, I’m the buzz these days.  Thursday after my normal series of sets at the squat bar I did one extra set at 245 lbs and last Monday I benched 135 lbs.  I guess that’s a lot for a woman so I’ve become a freak show.  People hang around to watch me.  I’m not really comfortable with that and feel very self conscious.  I found my self worrying about what to wear to the gym tonight and that annoyed me.  I just want to go and do my thing.  I’m sure the thrill will wear off and things will get back to normal again.

I’ve been very hungry for bread since I started this diet.  I think I was eating more of it than I realized.  So this week I’m trying to avoid it completely.  I’m thinking it’s a big trigger food for me so I have to watch it.  Other than that it has been easy so far.

Carrie, you rock so much you don’t even know it.

Think back to all those times you felt uncomfortable wearing pants that were too tight. Remember the times you wanted to hide. Yet here you are, being signaled out for doing something amazing! Think of what a wonderful turn that is! People are looking at you for the right reasons.

And something else I like to add. We are usually so busy worrying about what people think of us, that we forget everyone else is doing the same thing. So I’m going to be a mind reader here and tell you this.

One person thought, “Wow, if she can do that, I have no excuse. Look at her go!”

Another person thought, “Holy crap, that lady is amazing. I hope no one notices I can’t do that much.”

While another person thought, “Maybe if I can support her, it will motivate me.”

Still another person thought, “How come I can’t do that much? What’s her secret? Maybe if I watch her, I’ll figure it out.”

See, you are inspiring people left and right. Surely no freak show here!

Wishing you all the best. Keep going girl! You motivate me!

I don’t consider people watching you lift to be a freak show, I think it’s more like watching a strong powerful woman.  I’m really proud of everything you’ve accomplished.

I’m also with Shawn - white usually means that all the good nutrition has been bleached, washed or otherwise processed out leaving nothing but those nasty simple carbs that lead to blood sugar swings and more cravings.  Stick the the whole grains, and then work some bread into the meal plan.  Deprivation won’t work long term, just try to replace the cravings for the unhealthy foods with a desire for good food.

Carrie I will elaborate more on what Paula said, do you eat whole wheat bread? That white stuff literally rots your teeth! I also suggest to try not to ingest these complex carbs until your about to workout or for breakfast.

Wow Kayll! Thanks for that.  That’s so true about people worrying about themselves.  I know it’s silly to feel that way but it just happens.  Human nature I guess.

Shawn and Paula, I’ve heard that about no white foods.  I’m pretty much following that.  I try to stay away from dairy and stick with soy milk because it seems to bother my asthma and puffs me up.  Talking with the doctor it seems to be an alergy to milk protein.

Carrie I will elaborate more on what Paula said, do you eat whole wheat bread? That white stuff literally rots your teeth! I also suggest to try not to ingest these complex carbs until your about to workout or for breakfast.

I do eat whole wheat bread and can’t remember the last time I ate white.  I’m okay there.  So you’re saying I should eat my complex carbs for breakfast and before a workout only?  I try not to eat for at least an hour before a workout, especially when I lift so I don’t puke.  Is there a specific diet that you follow?  Any reading suggestions?  I really don’t know what I’m supposed to eat and when.

21 left to go

It’s gonna be a good day Tater!

I just have to say this made me crack up

I made sure I told him again that I’m on a serious diet and plan to lose 25 lbs by Christmas.  He said, “Is that all?  Piece of cake!” Well, the piece of cake is the whole problem here.

I know you can accomplish the 25 lbs, Carrie!!!! You’re working really hard, and you’re motivated and I completely believe you can do it smile

Hi Carrie, Just found your journal thread. You are already doing great! 23 more to go. Awesome job. And as far as people watching you lift, how flattering is that! Maybe you should go buy a cute new workout outfit!

thanks Mel and Emmi!  As of today I’m down to 21 lbs left to go.

Emmi, I think I’ll wait until I lose the 25 lbs and reward myself with new workout clothes.  My arms and legs are fairly tight but I still have this belly that I try to hide.  I’ll feel better about myself when it’s gone.

Wouldn’t that be nice?!!  I’d love to lose more than that but we’ll see.  I always seem to lose fast at first then slow back down.  I’m sure it’s all water weight at this point.  I’ll just push myself as hard as I can in my workouts and be strict with my eating.  I’m excited about it right now.
