Greetings to all of you wonderful MTMer’s,
I am still planning on doing a Golden Gate Bridge outing next Sat., August 11 at 10:00am. My plan is meet anyone who wants to do this at the Warming Hut/West Bluff Picnic Area parking lot at Chrissy Field
http://www.parksconservancy.org/our_work/crissy/
I will put an MTM sign in the window of my car. Afterward if you want to do a picnic there are picnic tables near the parking area.
You never know what kind of weather we will have so layer your clothing.
I think my husband will be bringing his bike and doing a ride. He is not much of a walker or runner so if anyone is interested in riding across the bridge you can do that too. Please note; Bike riders have to go across on the west side of the bridge, walkers on the east.
I know that a lot of you live a good distance away. I do too. So if there is no response from anyone out there in MTM land, I am prepared to do this another time. Just chime in if this interests you..
Best to you all.
Laura
I’m in and I will be coming from Lafayette (East Bay). The bike ride also sounds like fun. I may bring my bike and see who is there before making a final decision. If anyone needs a ride from the Walnut Creek / Oakland / Berkeley area , I can fit another person, plus bike on the bike rack.
Light Green Lexus SUV with an MTM sign in the window.
I plan on bringing a bring a cooler with energy drinks and as Scott says ‘some adult beverages’ for after.
It looks like we’ll be in town, but if we are I have to take my daughter to her dance class at 10:00. She’s missed 6 weeks of it due to swim team, and they’re about to eliminate her from the recital! Can we meet with you around 12:00? She and I can do a walk together or run on the beach. Are you lunching back at Chrissie Field? How far are you walking, Vista Point?
I sent a PM to Paula and walknrow with my cell. phone # for Sat. I tried to send it to your screen name, but must be typing it wrong. Anyway, they have my #, and may send me theirs, so that I can call you when I get there with my daughter and possibly my son. We would be there approx. 12:00 - 12:30. Thanks, and take care,

Hey Marcy -
I replied to the email trail that I had this morning.
I hope we see you there ... bring a lunch. We’ve got a description of our cars in this thread or the Northern California one.
I must have just missed you, as I got to Crissie Field around 1:45, thanks to Bay Bridge traffic (no surprise there!). I looked all over for Paula’s truck, to no avail. I hope you all had a fabulous time, and I can’t wait to see pictures! I knew I was going to be late, but then my daughter woke up sick and I had to take her in to the doctor, then get her a prescription, etc., and by the time I got out of here it was about half an hour after I thought I would.
I ended up taking a walk along the beach trail. It’s always stunning how beautiful it is there, Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Marin Headlands, everything. I also watched the wind surfing championship! What fun! I should have brought Ginger, because there were tons of dogs there having a great time. It made me want to plan a family outing there.
Anyway, hopefully I’ll meet up with you next time, and thank you so much for planning this!

Marcy -
sorry we missed you!
I sat there during lunch and watched the traffic going onto the GG bridge back up, slow down, anc basically come to a crawl. I knew I had close to a 2.5 hour drive, and that the traffic was going to be adding to that trip!
I enjoyed the walk over the bridge (probably only the second time I’ve done that in my life), and then it was cool to sit during lunch and realize we’d just walked the bridge.
It was SUPER windy yesterday. Our lunches kept trying to blow away.
There were lots of dogs around. One guy was playing catch with his dog, but I don’t think it was the aerobic type that Jonathon plays with his dog.
It was strange to be in 60 degree weather for a few hours, and then drive home to the Sacto area and be back in the 90 degree weather.
Thanks, Ada. I know, the wind was incredible. I could tell even talking with you on the phone, that it was windy! Great for the wind surfers, though! Hope you had a good drive back, and that you had a great day after that, too. It is so amazing the temp. differences in the Bay Area! Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Sorry we missed you. The wind was a bit trying. I just read the report of my friends who had launched from Horseshoe cove (we could see them from the bridge) taking over 20 minutes just to paddle about 100 yards around the end of the jetty after the winds came up. I’m glad I was over the water and not on the water yesterday.
Laura - Thanks for the tip about the art show. I had a great time wandering around all the booths, and I spend way too much money too. I certainly appreciate and support the arts, even though I’m not that good at creating art. It was a wonderful relaxing day overall.
