Sparkpeople.com had a very good article today about what you can do at home to get fit.  Here’s a link!

P.S.  You may need to register, but it’s free, so don’t worry about it.  grin

Thank you very much for sharing that great information.  I could see those exercises as being really good for those who travel as well!!

Great link, Judy!  It’s amazing how much stuff you can do with nothing more than your body and a floor.  (Or, if you’re feeling *really* industrious, a chair and a few cans of vegetables.) *grin*

Cheers,
Julie

A chair and a few cans of vegetables - that’s hilarious that you should mention that Julie… I’ve actually heard of using tin cans as weights before…

Scott’s mentioned it a few times on some of the older shows as a decent replacement for weights.  It’s especially helpful for people who are travelling, because there are grocery stores everywhere, and canned fruits or vegetables are really cheap.  (Especially compared to weights.)

I don’t usually go to the gym, but once when I did I took a core training class.  We all took weights: I took ones that were approximately 3 pounds, and it tell you, it was too heavy!  I felt like my arms were falling off!  It’s amazing how much stuff you can do with really light weights.

Cheers,
Julie

Great thread and link, Judy!

I think it is way too easy to get caught up in the marketing of fitness. We need good fitting shoes, comfortable clothing and that’s about it. We all have the largest treadmill in the world outside our front door LOL
