Hi all

I’ve got a trip coming up and I’m challenging myself to make it as healthy as possible.

Here are some things I am changing about this trip -

-take healthy snacks that will keep me satisfied (cashews, fruit)

-eat NO, ZERO, ZILCH of thoes little warm white bread rolls my mother-in-law stacks on

-eat three moderate meals; when the plate is empty, no secdonds, thirds, etc (stress eating is a problem on these trips)

-eat two snacks

-water water water

Look forward to checking in soon.

Hey Moni - I’m in there with you.  I’m leaving on a road trip on Tuesday and I’m taking healthy snacks, making iced tea for the road, pledging to order light entrees when I’m out and hitting the store to pick up more fresh fruit along the way.  But I am allowing myself one trip to Taco Bell (since we don’t have one where I live) and one piece of wedding cake at my friend’s wedding.

Laura - I think that’s a good idea to plan/schedule your “treats” so you have something to look forward to and don’t feel deprived.

Moni, have you gone on your trip yet? What’s the schedule?

Monica,

That is a great plan.  I’m going to be taking along some healthy snacks on my road trip too… this way there won’t be any temptations at the roadside gas/rest stops along the way.

You’ll have to keep us posted on how you make out with your trip.

You may also want to get your hands on nutritional information brochures from fast food restaurants so that you can choose what you want BEFORE you even walk in the restaurant.  This was so helpful to me on my vacation last week.  We drove to California with 30 teenagers stoppping at fast food along the way.  I loved being able to look up what a given restaurant would have and brainstorm what to eat before even leaving the van.  Bu the way...there really are some decent choices out there.  I just wouldn’t want to make it a habit!
