Hi Ada,
Picnic afterwards - what a great idea! It’s almost becoming an event!
I hope we can get some more people to put it on thier calendar too.
Best,
Laura
Jonathan is about 150 miles north of the bay area up 101. I was asking because he has talked about his home being in the country near mountains and I was curious. I’ve been up in that direction when I paddled the Eel River last year.
Hi All,
If most of the folks are coming from the North we can certainly change the venue. For right now I think the most important thing is for everyone to commit to a date.
So we all have August 11 on the calendar we can fiqure the rest out when it gets closer, don’t you think?
Best,
Laura
Hey, now I know why my ears were burning! I’m finally getting around to checking out this thread and here you are talking about me, lol. Too funny. Yep, Paula’s right, I’m near a small town called Willits, about three hours drive from both Sacramento and San Francisco. I’ll go ahead and make a note on August 11, too.
Hi Jonathan,
You can always carpool with my husband and me. We live in Santa Rosa.
I still think that the beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge is worth the extra effort to get there.
Laura
Hey carpooling sounds fun, thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on that! I agree, the Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful; it has always felt special to me too. When I used to live in the South Bay and drive across it on my way back and forth to visit my parents up here, I would always roll down my windows and turn up the music as I crossed the bridge. I’ve never actually set foot on it, though, just four tires.
I’ve never walked on it either, only driven on it. And even that was not often since the Bay Bridge was cheaper and easier to get to where we were going in S. SF.
My plan, since I don’t drive in the City, is to take the ferry from Vallejo and then take Muni (?) to Chrissy Fields.

if we get our acts together ... we can probably pick you up in Vallejo .... we’re coming by that way anyway. It would be a bit out of the way to get to your house, but Vallejo would be very doable. It’s been years since I’ve stopped anywhere in Vallejo (my grandparents lived there when they were alive), but we can probably even figure out something that’s fairly close to 80 as a meeting point.

I think San Francisco is wonderful.
I think distance is the nature of the beast when you’re talking about a group of people that are located through out California.
If we’re an active group and meet a couple times a year, we can move the locations around and find something cool to do in various places around the area.

Laura,
I agree with Ada. San Francisco a a great place to meet. I have never been to Chrissy Field or most places in the bay area. I visited Alcatraz for the first time last year.
Hi All,
Thank you for the response. Let’s keep it in SF at Chrissy Field on August 11 then. Picnic afterward.
If we get enough of a group, my guess is that Scott may even surpise us, but you never know. Even if it is just us MTMer’s it will be fun.
Best,
Laura
Thanks to Ada , I checked out this thread which I wasn’t even aware of!!!!! I would love to join you on August 11 if we’re in town. I’ll know better in a couple of weeks. Great to read about you all, and now that I know you’re here, I’ll be checking in often!
This sounds like great fun! I’m glad to see this coming together. I jog through Marina/Crissy Field/Predidio somewhat regularly, and I can say for those who have not yet been, this is one of the more stunning locations to walk, run or just hang out. Absolutely beautiful with city, bay and golden gate views, and a good work out too! I’d highly recommend the drive, even if it’s a distance. My dad (Scott), Joi and Myself made a run here earlier in the year and had a blast.
I’d love to join you all for this. I’ll definitely be out to enjoy it with you all if I can make it. A picnic afterwards sounds wonderful, and there are many great places to have it in that area.
Thanks, it’s great to post, and especially to see some MTM activity in my back yard! I just checked with the misses and realized, drats, we’ll be headed to Monterey bay for the weekend of this little shindig, so I won’t be able to make it. What a bummer! I went running at Chrissy field this evening and it was beautiful. There were so many kite surfers - it looks like a fun thing to do out on the bay. You guys will have such a good time. I hope to be able to make future bay area MTM events - it’ll be great to meet all of the NorCal listeners who I wasn’t able to hang out with at the Napa gathering.
M, what’s your name? Or should I just call you M? And, I love your profile pic!
