Hi Carlyn,

I have a picture that I would like to use for the site but I don’t know how to edit it to fit.  Can you help?  Right now it is too big.

Thanks for all you do!

Hey Lisa -

Are you trying to upload a photo for your profile?  Or would you like to post a picture along with a message in the forum?

If you’ve got Adobe Photoshop or a similar photo editing system, it’s relatively easy to edit your photo in a few steps.

To edit a photo for your Profile…

1) Crop Your Photo - Using the crop tool, try to make your photo into a square shape. Since the profile photos are pretty small, you’ll get the best results if you focus your “square” mostly on your face. Don’t worry if it looks small at first - next we’ll resize it.

2) Resize Your Photo - In Adobe Photoshop, at the top click on the menu called “Image” and then select “Image Size...”. In order for your photo to fit in your profile, it must be no larger than 100 x 100 pixels, or 50 kB in size. In the section called ‘Pixel Dimensions’, use the ‘width’ and ‘height’ boxes to enter your 100 x 100 size, and make sure you have ‘pixels’ selected next to it. It’s ok if your photo is not exactly 100x100 - it may be more like 100 x 90 if it’s not a perfect square.

3) Save and Upload your Photo - Once you’re done resizing you photo, upload it into your profile (you can find your profile in your My Account page).

To edit a photo for a post in the forum...

1) Resize Your Photo - There’s no need to crop your photo to a specific shape, but you will need to resize your photo to no larger than 700 kB in size. Just use the detailed resizing instructions above. At the top of your ‘Pixel Dimensions’ section, you will see the estimated size of your photo in kB… so you won’t have to just guess.

2) Save and Upload Your Photo - Now you’re ready to share your fun photo to the forum. When you Post a New Reply, just use the ‘Attachments’ section to upload your photo. If you have more than one photo to share in your forum post, click ‘Preview’ after you enter each photo.

Let me know if this works for you. And if you don’t have any photo editing software, send your photos over to and help you out.

Can’t wait to see your smile! smile
