Hi people
I’ve just been reading lots of posts around the forum to get a better idea of what’s being discussed and I’ve loved what I’ve seen so far…
but anyway, before I go off on one (I tend to do that a lot) I wanted to write something I’ve been doing to help me control my cravings which might help other people here… and I say cravings and not hunger because I’m one of those persons that eats when I’m not hungry, it’s just an “I’m bored so I’ll eat” or “it’s there so I’ll eat it” or “it’s just too yummy to let it sit there”. So something I’ve been trying for about a month now is chewing sugarless gum. And it works!
I started with the usual mint gum, because most sugarless gum comes in peppermint or some other mint but that got boring very very fast so I started experimenting and buying different flavors of sugarless gum. I found tropical flavors, cherry, orange, cinnamon… there is a bunch of different flavors out there and lots of new arrivals all the time. So I stocked up on my favorite flavors and I have a stash at work, a stash at home and a stash in the car. Whenever I’m feeling like eating something because I’m bored or because it’s there I chew a gum instead and believe me it helps! A lot!
Sugarless gum is good for your teeth as well!!! because it cleans them of large pieces of food that got stock between your teeth when you don’t have a toothbrush around. Aside from cleaning your teeth, it also takes away the flavor of what you were eating before. So that chocolate flavor left by the piece of chocolate you had earlier that left you craving for more is gone when you have your chewing gum and you are left in peace to think about something else.
hope this helps!
Gaby
