Hi everyone!

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been a bit absent lately.  I’ve barely posted at all in the last week!  What gives?!?

Some of you might remember James from this weekend’s podcast.  I’ve never met James, and I doubt I’d recognize him if I ever saw him.  On the other hand, I recognized his job: forest fire fighter.  That’s what my boyfriend does!  He works for six months of the year in Nevada, fighting forest fires as part of a ”hot shot crew.” The rest of the year, he lives here in Montreal, Canada.

Well, my boyfriend left to Nevada yesterday, and I spent the last week with him as much as humanly possible.  We had a blast!  And, even though I’m sad that he’s gone, he’s overcome great challenges getting to the leaving point (illness for a month and a half, two injuries, obnoxiously complex paperwork… you name it!), so I’m very happy for him.

So now I’m back, ready to jump in with both feet into the forums.  You’ll be seeing a lot more of me lately!

And, as a present to all of you who have been desperately waiting for my next “gratitude journal” update (it’ll come in about five minutes), I present you with a few pictures of me from my boyfriend’s going-away party on Thursday night.  Full body pictures, even!  The rest of the album can be seen here.}

Cheers!
Julie

Wondered where you’d got to… and I don’t blame you trying to squeeze as much into the week as possible. I always admire people who serve that way.

I’m really glad you are back and look forward to reading your wonderful posts!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!
