I am organizing our first ever MTM cruise.  The big question is:  Alaska or the Carribean?

More details will follow.  Right now I want to know interest levels, and what activities do you want to have?

Work-outs with our moderators?  Presentation seminars from Scott?  An ab-off between Carlyn, Bree and Paula?

Send me you ideas.

If anyone has experience with cruise lines and has a recommendation, let me know.

This will be fun.

I’m in, doubt I can beat Carlyn in the ab contest, but it would be fun. And the Caribbean is my choice.

I’m in-I’ll start putting money aside for the MTM cruise.

Jackie, thank you for doing this. I like all of your suggestions. My preference would be the Caribbean but either would be fine with me.

Thanks again.

I would love to do this. Carribean for sure. How about a Daily Double-Up? MTM branded workout clothes or accessories for men and women?

Though it sounds awesome, I doubt my finances will allow me to attend (unless moderators are comped… *grin*).

If I were to go, I think it would be great to have Scott lead a few classes.  Also, I know a lot of us on the forums do martial arts: maybe a few sessions where everyone shows up in their gi to exchange a few katas or do some sparring? A few “trade your ideas” roundtables could be a nifty idea, too.

And, what the heck, since it’s MTM, how about a “before and after” bathing suit show?  In other words: bring a picture of you in a bathing suit “before,” and then show us how awesome you look now!  Obviously, this would be on a volunteer basis, but I think we’ve got enough people on the forums who would be up to show off their progress.

Cheers!

Great ideas.  Thank you.

We’ll see what kind of rates I can negotiate before we give up on anyone for finances. Just the brief scan I did of rates looks very promising that we can accommodate a broad spectrum of budgets.

I would like to point out that we would be in the Caribbean.  How much time do we really want to spend working out?  Should this be more of a reward for our efforts?  Perhaps a time of enjoying our good health and putting faces on our forum friends?

I like the idea of doing some seminar sessions while the ship is in motion, but I would like to keep port time open.

What does everyone think of this?

How about ballroom dancing? I’ve always wanted to do that, we could have classes and a dance at the end. And I am also interested in cheaper rates. I’d bunk up if that’s a possibility. Doubt my hubby will want to come, so I could share a room with another girl. It could be a long slumber party.

My choice would be Alaska for sure but I;ll probably be overruled.  My limits are mostly time.  I have limited vacation days and you know how fast those are booked.  I’ll work it out some way.  It should be awesome.

I’m with Bree here. I’m interested in economical accommodations. I would also be traveling alone so I’d be happy to share a cabin Bree. How much time would we really be in our cabins anyways? Is Captain Stuebing, Doc, Gopher, Julie and Issac going to be there?  wink

Paula,

My choice would be Alaska.  My sister took a cruise a couple of years ago and said it was amazingly beautiful.

I am going to try and find the best rates I can and we will see how many people sign up. Ultimately, that will be the deciding factor about whether or not we do this.

I want to makes sure that everyone understands spouses and significant others are absolutely invited.  It would be so nice to meet the folks behind the posts AND the people who are most important to them.

Vacation are expensive.  This will be only the second vacation I have gotten my work-a-holic husband to take in 26 years.  I want it to be a good time for everyone who wants to come.

Cool Jackie - It looks like there is big interest in our very first “MTM Adventure” Cruise and it looks like we’ve got a great cruise director - I can’t wait for you to get the information you’ve rounded up to me and Carlyn so we formalize our plans and make this thing happen.  Just wondering? Should I begin working on my Karaoke song?  smile

There is no doubt our adventure will be an amazing success and one to talk about for years to come.

One thing I can promise everybody - we will have fun, it will be affordable, we will learn, we will move and I will make sure the tone and feel of the cruise exactly what you’ve come to love about MTM.

Let’s do it!

Jackie

Maybe a shorter 4 day cruise would be more reasonable as a start, both financially and time wise.  Then it would only require a long weekend.  We could try for off season, or end of season, but I would prefer staying out of the Caribbean during hurricane season.

Paula, I thought you had a great sense of adventure! After this we could do an Alaska one in the summer to escape the heat, then a camping trip. So many possibilities.

There is a third interesting possiblity: European river cruises.  Then we can have some of our overseas members join us.

Right now I am going to collect information from several cruise lines and compile a proposal for Scott.  He will make the final decision based on what will serve the needs of the majority of MTM members.

Paula, you are so right about hurricane season.  Rates really drop!  But who wants to take a cruise during a hurricane?

Bree, I agree that if this is successful, we should bug Scott for an annual MTM cruise!

I think that this should definitely be an annual thing for sure!!!  Scooby may not be able to attend the first one, but I will make it my priority to attend future ones. Please make sure to have a place on the website for people to post pictures so those who can’t go can check out all the fun!!  Sounds like fun folks!!

Carribean sound delish!  Jerry will not be hard to tempt onto a boat for a long weekend, as it’s his dream that we eventually “run away from home” and make coconut monkeys for a living.

Yeah, right!  LOL

Any-who, I’d love to spend time in port as well.  Exercise would be fun on the ship, but so would mixers and cocktail hour-type things.  And did someone say Karaoke?!?  Sweet.

Cheers,
