Julie!! You look gorgeous! I was wondering what you’ve been up to these days. I’m glad you’re doing so well and that you’ve found a love for strength training (my favorite!). It’s good to hear from you.
Julie, I had been wondering about you again . . . but I’ve been gone so much this summer that I haven’t kept track of much.
I’m soooo glad you’re now doing strength training also. I look at my mother who has been thin all her life and know that I don’t want to look like her if I can avoid it. There’s nothing to her now. And of course, she never had visible muscles. It’s too late for her to develop muscles and it could have been too late for me (it’s taking a long time) but you’re at a great point in your life to work on them.
Thanks everyone!! I feel fantastic actually! I do my strength training at home. You don’t need anything real fancy to get the results you want. I do have a home gym, smith machine, weignt bench and all...I use free weights a lot too. I am slowly adding to my home gym..my birthday is next month and the husband knows that I want more free weights and some resistance bands. Now Carrie and I can take over the “male” part of the gym with ease.
There is no male part of my gym any more. I’m the Queen! LOL!! You’re so fortunate that you have a gym at home. I would love that. Good for you. You really do look great.
I’ve had a lot of stress this past week but think I have a good mindset about it. I guess that is the hardest part!!! Times like these makes me thankful for good friends who bring me laughs and smiles everyday. I haven’t eaten very much lately due to stress so I am hoping to remedy that, too little food is a bad thing too. My workouts help keep me centered.
Fabulous arms! You look great! Take that stress and work it off. lol That’s what started me moving. Excess stress and needing a place to burn it off before it killed me off. Sounds like you have been busy this summer.
Thanks Purple for stopping in!!!!!! Yeah, nothing quite handles stress like a good workout. Today I admit, I am feeling bleh, kinda unmotivated. But this lack of energy won’t keep me...as soon as I am done typing this I think I will go workout. I really don’t feel productive if I don’t. There must be something about the change of seasons that makes you want to sluff off. As long as I don’t think of pumpkin pie and cool whip already I think I’ll be fine.
LOL, thanks, I’m a work in progress!!!!! I guess you can say things have radically changed since I began my journey. It is amazing, when I started I never thought I could accomplish what I have. You never know what you are capable of until you try it. My body is finally starting to look like what I feel, a stong healthy athlete. Ok so maybe I won’t go crazy, I still have a way to go. This past December I joined Weight Watchers since my weight loss came to a lull...that helped motivate me to take more control over my eating. Taught me some really great things. I stopped going to Weight Watchers once I reached my 10% goal. A risky move but I was sure I could do it on my own. Here in September, I’ve dropped another 10 pounds and am looking forward to what’s ahead. This winter doesn’t seem so intimidating for once. No more fat Christmases for me!!!!!
Another 10 pounds? You are really working it! Are you at your goal weight/size? If you aren’t, you must be close, you look tiny! You’ve inspired me, again!
Well I weigh in at 123 now....I’m not really giving myself a specific number to get to really, just goals like, “I want to be able to see this muscle, or that muscle” sorta goals. The big difference is that me now at 123 is really different from me at 123 years ago. This time I have muscle and a stronger look to me. I like it!!! Oh and I managed to get myself off of chocolate completely. Even during PMS!!!!!!! The sweet tooth must have fallen out.
I like your comment about your sweet tooth falling out. I’m not sure that I want mine to. . . . I can’t imagine life without chocolate. I just want to be in control of it!
LOL yup, I didn’t even mind that the tooth fairy didn’t even come when the sweet tooth fell out!!!! I actually didn’t “kick the sweet addiction” until AFTER I quit Weight Watchers. I came across a great woman to look up to while reading the Oxygen magazine. Her name is Tosca Reno. She is a 40 something woman who changed her life, changed her eating, and now has a rockin’ body. She competed in Fitness competitions and looks fabulous. She stresses the importance of “Clean eating”. Meaning, stay away from processed foods, bad sugars, and stick with natural foods, TONS of veggies, lean meats. She also makes a lot of sence when she says being fit involves 80% nutrition, 10% exercise, and 10% genetics. I have found this to be my case, I used to workout for 2 hours a day and eat (I ate healthy, just way TOO much) and never lost any weight. So I think I have mastered my diet, it is really empowering. Weight Watchers DID teach me portion control...and that is VERY important.
I did go out today to get a new dress for my birthday next month. I had one that I bought in late August, tried it on last night, too big. So I got myself a hot little black dress that I feel really good in. This birthday just feels so different!!!!!!!!!!!
