Hi I came across this website after downloading the podcasts from ITunes.

I’ve just turned 40 and need to lose at least 14lbs.  I was doing really well and had started running as I’m doing a 5km run next week but then I went on holiday!!!  I managed to get to the gym every other day whilst I was there but I picked up an ankle injury so I’ve had to put the running on hold.  I’ve now put back all the weight that I lost and think I’m going to have to walk instead of run next week!!  I’ll still raise money for charity but I wanted to do my first run without stopping this time!

I’d appreciate any tips on any kind of exercise I can do without putting any strain on my ankle - I’m keen to keep up the cardio as I need to burn fat!  I’ve started back on my healthy eating plan today but it’s not enough!!!

Welcome!

I love to swim and ride bikes too.. in addition to running, which is really a very taxing on your body (ankles, knees, shins, hips, etc)....

Mix it up… strengthen your core… and all the other muscles surrounding the area that gets sore......

Have fun

Eat well

Keep moving..... everyday!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Have you considered yoga? I’m a runner too, and I just love the way yoga relaxes me.

Thanks - I do have a bike so may be I’ll try that and I have seen a Pilates class which I was thinking about joining as well.  It’s all too easy to use the injury as an excuse not to exercise!  I guess I just have to try different things

My ankle does seem better today but I’m not going to rush into running again until it’s completely better.
