It’s like vacation bible school every Wednesday. It’s a great way for the church’s kids (and lots from other churches) to get together and learn more about God, themselves, and each other. I love it, and I’m so blessed that I have the time and energy to volunteer.

I’m watching American Gladiators (gotta love tivo), and the women are gorgeous, strong, and super sexy. Looking even closer, they have some of the same body quirks I do (like my thighs still touch when I stand, though there’s little fat there, and a tiny bit of flesh popping out around the spandex). Does that make them any less gorgeous, strong, or sexy? Heck no! So I forgive my body of its little quirks that are airbrushed out of magazines, and embrace my gorgeous, strong, and sexy self.

It’s all true!

I love your attitude, Bree. I agree that some forms of media teach us to think negatively about ourselves, and it’s vitally important that we sort of unplug ourselves from that and erase those inessential thoughts from our minds. Imagine going through life trying to live up to empty fakeness, only to realize at the end that we missed appreciating ourselves for our own true and organic beauty?

oh Bree, you are wonderful, and have such a great attitude towards life… so real, and that makes you who you are, a great mom, wonderful wife, teacher with all the zeal for life!

I’m so glad you articulated the healthy self esteem you have. You’re an example to us all!

Once again, want to take this time to thank you for all you do here on MTM.... couldn’t imagine it without you.....

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Thank you Brandon, Tom, and Paula. I’m still keeping that thought to the forefront. Watching the Olympics, its just reinforced, but wow the talent!

I’ve come to a Zen conclusion. I’m switching the half marathon distance for the 10K in the WWH marathon challenge. I’ve been taking my 1800 mg of ibuprofen daily, and decided to cut back to “just” 1200 (2 pills instead of 3). I can feel the difference in my knee. It’s not bad, no pain, but I can definitely feel something. I WILL make the half marathon someday, it just won’t be this October. So, I’m going to continue with my training and just stay at the 6 mile until race day. Going for quality now.

Quality! Exactly!

The Olympics are full of people that are so inspiring. I was watching a news segment the other day about a Canadian woman who was in her 50’s, and is participating in the games.

Thanks, Brandon and Tom. As soon as I made the decision, there was a weight that I hadn’t noticed suddenly gone.

I haven’t run that far before. It’s a good next step. I’d like to have a 6 mile long run weekly and keep working on my form and my speed.

The 80-20 is working very well. I am running faster, and farther, feeling like I’ve only run half the distance at a much slower speed.

I’ve been home with sick kids yesterday and today. Mouse was sick at the beginning of yesterday, but got better quickly after taking medicine. Skeeter had to be picked up, she had a fever of almost 102, and she’s still got it, and is on the couch miserable. I’m so blessed to be able to stay home and care for my babies. I have a beautiful life.

You really do, Bree. And your children are so blessed to have their mother home for them when they’re sick!

The suit just got here, and I’m anxious to try it on.

Life has been crazy. I still haven’t gotten my schedule completely worked out. I know how it would work, but it just doesn’t seem to happen that way. Its driving me bonkers. I think I need to accept that the hour between me getting home, and my girls getting home is going to be blown. When it cools down, I’d like to use that time to hit the trail near my school on the way home, but its still too hot to do that. And the next chance I get to run outside is 8pm.

My feet have been hurting, and legs, and knees, and hips lately. The shoes I was wearing to work offered no support, and we’re on our feet all day. Not a lot of steps, but lots of standing. I just took advantage of the bogo sale at Payless and shouldn’t have that problem anymore. Yay!

My grandma is getting better! This is good and bad. She’s more aware now, and feels how sore she is. But she’s doing well, and I’ve gotten to talk on the phone with her. I wish she didn’t have the pain. My mom’s leave is almost up, but my aunt is taking a leave to take over for her. Grandma is looking forward to her arrival. They were always close.

Is the reason the legs are hurting from work or from running?

Shoes is one thing I am generally willing to spend a bit more on to get a high quality pair.  When I am teaching in the classroom I have to wear dressier shoes so I will pay for some good brand names that have some arch support and cushining in the heal - favourite dress shoes right now are Josef Seibel.  My legs certainly took a beatng during my placements.  At the highschool (PE. Dept) I could get away with runners so I didn’t have foot problems there (except for athlete’s foot… owwww)

I guess in Florida you tend to wear sandles more throughout the year - Rockport is my favourite sandle name - actually more thongs - but they have good footbeds and are good so long as I don’t have to do any serious distance walking.

Hope your Grandma has some good days.  It is good that your family is coming together to help take care of her.

Take Care
