Day 10.....Day off except for my 8 hour shift running around all night at the hospital. I tried swinging a 3 pound dumbbell just lightly around to see how my arm responded and it was not good so I think I will give it more time. Thanks for all the info girls I sounds like something I might like to try once I heal. I checked Debs post and she is doing 8 pounds with 2 hands. Wow, that’s impressive. I’m off to get something done before work. It’s been a long week and I still have 2 more days. I’m just feeling so tired this week. It’s probably been the heat. Today is foggy and wonderful. I never thought I would tire of the sunshine.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Days 11...12...and 13.

I’ve been working on the floor everyday and that can mean as many as 5 miles or 15000 steps. My ankles are killing me by the end of the night. That is what I will enjoy about the weight loss, less stress on my frame. I picked up a bunch of extra work this week to pay for the Mastermind program. I’m getting a lot out of it and I can feel my confidence building.

More later on todays exercise. I’m off this week so I have to make up for the lack of movement compared to the days I work. I guess I should count myself lucky to be on the go at work but it can be exhausting especially when I do a run of days in a row. I have to keep my immunity up or I’ll pick up one of those nasty germs I come in contact with every day, like meningitis or any one of the myriad of microbes that people cough on me. I suppose I’m just building my antibodies with the continuous stream of ailments I see. I envision my antibodies as huge horses galloping through my blood stream....lol. More later.

Hi Denise - Know what you mean about working the floor.  I was an L&D;nurse for 10 years and before that med-surg.  I know how much mileage you can put on and how tired your legs can get.  Now that I work a desk job, it’s hard to get enough exercise.  Love those horses.  Great image of strength.

Day 15....I got up and out early today and did a walk on the beach in the water and soft sand. I lasted for 76 minutes and feel great tonight. I’m sore but I feel like I really accomplished something today. I also did my meditation at the end. Tonight I will do my 100 sit-ups and stretches before bed.

Could it get much worse? The gang does sit-ups. Photo by 64_boats_doc

Day 16....90 minutes working in the garden without climbing down. I was sweating from places I didn’t know I could sweat from hanging on to the mountainside spreading out like Spiderman reaching, clipping and pulling. What a workout. I’m feeling it this morning too. My garden is close to 45 degrees in most places and I have to wear cleats to work in it. Check out the photos below. It is quite a job and I have to work on it regularly to keep it from being taken over by the ivy and brambles. I dare anyone to say Yardio isn’t a workout....LOL. My muscles beg to differ. Thanks Bree. You look so cute in your photo.

Great day!

Day 17......was a great day. I did an 81 aerobic walk down along the ocean, followed in the evening by upper body work and 20 more minutes of aerobics. Thanks guys. The garden is an ongoing project. I should say never ending, but I reap so many rewards from it. If you look close there is a hammock up there on the left. The stairs that go up on the right go all the way to the top around and down the left side of the garden. It’s a workout just doing the loop. Have a wonderful day.

The photo was my walk along Wilder Ranch.

Day 18...Started the day with TaeBo for 30 minutes and went into upper body/waist work and dance for another 20 minutes. Feeling good and down 14 pounds since July 1 when I started the Mastermind program. I’ve never been so focused and committed.

Day 19...TaeBo in the morning before going to work for an 8 hour shift.

Day 20… I took the day off from my regular exercise but worked my 8 hour shift at the hospital, and was pretty busy running around all night. I usually do anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 steps on my pedometer on the days I work.

Day 22.....Day 21 I had a migraine but I’m better today.....Thanks guys..... I’m just feeling so focused and the results are following. I always knew that if I could step it up and stop the night eating I would lose the weight. I can’t wait to get out there and do my hike or exercise of choice each day. It is really a joy. I push it till I feel like it is getting hard, I can feel that it is working, I get breathy, and I know I’m aerobic. I am listening to my body for the first time in my life and I’m amazed because it is not steering me wrong.

I climbed a mountain today. At the top of the mountain you can see all the way to the ocean and Santa Cruz then to the right and left are redwoods covering the mountains for as far as the eye can see. (picture below) It took me 45 to 50 minutes to get up there and at some point I was huffing and puffing. The part that got really steep, my foot was at a 45 degree angle to my leg. I slowed down a little and zig-zagged on the path to keep moving and take it at less of an angle. Going down was a whole different experience. I tried to hold my abs tight all of the way down. It took me about 40 minutes so all in all I did around 75 to 80 minutes.

I can feel my strength growing. Last week I was doing my hikes in the water and soft sand for 70 minutes. It’s building stamina and I’m liking it. I wasn’t even tired when I got down. I felt energized.  Most important of all I’m not hurting myself.  It’s just my way of doing the LSB. I find it hard to last as long on the treadmill. It was a good day. I wrote in my gratitude journal and I will do my meditation before I go to bed. I know it is a major part of this change in me.
