It’s great reading everyone’s experiences.  I particularly like reading the details like what drinks you took and how much and when you drank it, what shoes, how you felt etc.  It’s great to compare notes.

I didn’t take much to drink, just a small water bottle half full of a weak Maximuscle Viper about 20ml or 8 fl oz that I squish the air out of and stick down the back of my shorts.  Then my wife met me half way with another identical bottle.

On a normal training run I’d take a bit more but I recently took three bottles of fairly strong Viper on a long run and my stomach wasn’t very impressed afterwards although it could have been caused by something else.

On my next long run I intend to try two with Viper and one just water.

As for shoes, I’ve decided to blame my hamstring problem on my shoes and I’m going to chuck out all my old ones and just use the newer ones until I get round to buying a couple more pairs.  I have a rogue female gene that only manifests itself in the number of pairs of running shoes that I have.  I keep separate indoor (gym) and outdoors ones.  I’m very impressed with a pair of Nike Triax that I have.  I haven’t had Nike shoes for years, they just didn’t fit me but I think they have changed their last (at last).

So Tom, where is this half Ironman?? In March you say.

Well done everyone.

Anymore reports out there.

Anyone else listen to last week’s Phedippidations podcast?

Bree, your race report was on it!  And Tom’s, too!  And Team MTM got mentioned!  Yaaaay us!  grin

I’m on week 4 of my training! Did my first tempo run last night, had a hard time staying on beat. I’ve downloaded several more podcasts with a good bpm, anyone have any favorites?
