Hang in there, it’s tough, be thankful for the times you had and the times your having now.

Monday: short walk, 2 mile run, hike @ mile+

I’ve given up on the Power 90 for the time I’m here. There is no room to do it anywhere that won’t wake Grandma up. Her hospital bed is set up in the living room of her little apartment. But I’m going to get out my band and to some strength work. And my abs, I remember most of the DVD, so that’ll do. And my walking, and hiking will be my cardio. Its cool.

My eating has been good, except for the pizza today, but I can live with that. The freezer here is full of Schwann’s breaded crap, so I went to the store that first night and got food I’ll eat. And I’m making it for Mom too. We had a big salad yesterday, and eggplant parmesan tonight. And lots of fruit, some nuts. Same basic stuff I eat at home. It’s kept me sane, and I feel so much better for it.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Sometimes the familiarity of food can be comforting in times of duress.  Take care.

Bree - you are making good decisions all around during this tough time.  You are being concious of “how you want to feel” when this season of your life is done.  You have every reason to be satisfied with your choices.

Take care and God Bless

Considering what you are going through, I think it’s amazing that you are continuing to move, eat smart and find the time to even post. Thanks for keeping us informed of what you are going through. And good for you for doing so well under so much stress. This is pretty tough but you will get through this.

It’s good that you’re taking care of yourself.  You have to do that to be able to take care of your Grandma.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

You have been doing great. You will be fine with limited exercise while you take care of family. Life seems to get in the way at times. I find keeping a journal of my foods helps my weight from creeping up when I can’t exercise as much as I like. When you get back into it 100%, it will be like riding a bike .

Tuesday: did the hike, 1.5 mile run

So yep, I’m running! It keeps me sane. Not getting much sleep. Food choices are still good, its just easier that way. And Mom doesn’t feel like cooking, so I get to make all those decisions. Made eggplant parmesan last night, it turned out really well. Cut it into 8 servings, we’ve eaten off of it for 2 meals, and gave some to the hospice aid. I got more to make for Mom when I leave here tomorrow.

I’ll post the nitty gritty in my journal. It’s not good, but I’m not up for that post right now. This place helps immensely.

Bree - we all feel for your situation right now.  You are doing a terrific job of taking care of everyone else while still taking care of yourself - which is just as important.

Good job for getting the run in.  Are the knees still feeling good?

Take care

Knees feel great!

Wednesday: rest day, just didn’t get it done

I’m leaving here this morning, won’t have internet for about a week. Hubby and I are still taking our second honeymoon trip to the Black Hills. To get weirder, I’m getting a ride with Skeeter’s father up to meet with Hubby.

Here’s my plan for the next week:
Today (Thursday): 2 mile run
Friday: 1.5 mile run (long drive across the state)
Saturday: strength work
Sunday: run 2.5 miles
Monday: strength work
Tuesday: run 2 miles (another long drive across South Dakota)
Wednesday: strength
Thursday: 2 mile run scheduled, but will be driving back to Tennessee

Somewhere in there, I’m climbing Harney Peak, and doing lots of hiking in the Black Hills.  I’ll post when I can again. Thank you all for the support. This morning is about to get twilight zone weird.

Well, the best laid plans, right? My ride didn’t show, so I did my run.

Thursday: 2 mile run

It’s getting easier, I’ve got the pacing better, I can feel when a walk break is needed, and when I can run again. I double check with my HR monitor, and I’m accurate! Yeah!!!

Glad to hear the knees are holding up!  How are you doing tonight?  If we don’t hear from you we’ll assume you got away on your second honeymoon.  Try to enjoy it the best you can!

Hi Bree - I’m curious about your P90 workout.  How long have you been doing it, etc?  I checked the website. Looks like a tough boot camp type workout.

P90 is great! I’ve really missed doing it the past weeks.

Friday the 4th: Ran 1.5 miles

Saturday the 5th: 7 mile hike up to Harney Peak

Sunday and Monday: walking through towns Deadwood, Hill City, and Sturgis

Tuesday and Wednesday: nothing

Thursday the 10th: 2 mile run

There, I’m caught up. I’ll post some pics later. Haven’t synced the camera and the computer yet.
