**** Kashi Cocoa Beach granola cereal

“Cocoa Beach™ granola is a sweet escape from the ordinary — seven whole grain clusters infused with natural cocoa and mixed with coconut and crunchy almonds for a heavenly retreat you’ll always come back to.”—Kashi web site

This is good stuff. I was coerced to try it by a funny review I spotted on the web. But it’s 230 calories per half-cup, not exactly low calorie, even though it’s got omega-3’s and fiber going for it. So I opted for a compromise, mixing it 1:2 with:

** Kashi 7 Whole Grain Puffs

“We think you’ll appreciate the distinctive taste and heartier texture of our puffs!”—Kashi web site

Utter nonsense. This stuff tastes like it’s something you’d pack delicate medical equipment in for shipping. Sure, it’s got good whole grains and is only 70 calories per cup… per dry tasteless cup.

The mix, however, is something palatable and worthwhile. I used a dot of fat free half and half. Made a custom ‘meal’ in DailyPlate for this combo.

Anyone else a breakfast mixologist?

Great review Ann!!

I eat a standard breakfast most mornings

1/4 cup rolled oats (1/2 cup water - 2 min in the microwave) Add a teaspoon of honey and cinnamon for flavor.
Eggs - 1 egg (omega 3), 1/4 cup egg whites, small chunk of feta - scrabbled - 2:10 in the microwave.
1/2 grapefruit.

Alternate Breakfast - when I run out of eggs or egg whites or need to have something more portable

Smoothie
1 cup low fat soy milk
1 scoop protein power (chocolate is a good choice)
1 cup frozen raspberries (or whatever frozen berries I have on hand)

I use a hand blender to mix it all up - the cleanup is easier than in a regular blender.

Great ideas! My breakfast of choice is Bran Buds with a banana cut up and a packet of splenda. Not exciting, but fiber’s half done for the day, and the banana makes the whole thing perfect.

Speaking of Kashi...The Go Lean Crunch is pretty tasty...and it has some added protein to help fill you up!

Myself I’m a Fiber and berries kinda girl...sometimes I use yogurt instead of milk...kinda a parfait kind of deal.

That would be good! I’ve put granola in my yogurt before, but the fiber cereal would be awesome, especially with fruit, YUM!!!
