I’ve started keeping track of my 100 days of exercise for the 4th time around. I never really stop but it’s nice to see it in writing. Today I did the walk around Wilder’s Ranch State Park along the ocean for 55 minutes while doing arm exercises to pump it up. I will do my 100 sit-ups and stretches as I sit in front of the TV later tonight. I’m using my Omron pedometer that Bree turned me on to. I’ve had 4 different pedometers and this one is by far the best.
My family member was given 1 month to live at Thanksgiving and has fought his cancer hard and successfully. He is cancer free at the moment and the doctors say he is a walking miracle. It was an awful experience for my daughter to almost lose her dad but he is doing fantastic and has a new lease on life. We will take everyday we can get. Needless to say it was a big life event that got in the way but I kept on moving, though my night eating started to be a problem again. I didn’t gain it all back but I’m getting serious now. Life is good and I plan on getting off of these BP meds, one step at a time. I know there will be other life events that get in the way but I’ve joined the Mastermind group and I’m going to make it work for me.....Denise
Congratulations for making it back here. It sounds like you have been dealing with a lot, but you are taking steps to move forward in your journey and that is what counts.
Day 2.....I did my walk through the forest....up and down the hills I saw the deer on their run and it was a gorgeous day. I’m off to work in a bit, more running and I ended the night with my 100 sit-ups and stretches. Feeling good, eating right. It’s amazing how miserable I feel when I veer from this path.
On another note Big Sur is on fire and being evacuated today. At least it’s raining and foggy.
Day 3.......
Thanks Catherine...yes it is Big Sur. I went for my walk along the ocean at Wilder’s Ranch again today and did 50 minutes, followed by some yoga stretches. The hiking path runs all around the edge of it. The crop in the middle is Rosemary. It smells so good when they are watering it. I feel so good when I’m doing my hike. I can’t wait to get there. Here is an aerial view of the ranch. It’s in Santa Cruz, California.
I could see the smoke when I looked south on Monterey Bay. The ash is landing on my deck. It’s tragic mostly for the animals. there are still signs up for people looking for their animals lost in the last fire. It was only 4 miles from me.
I also did my 100 sit-ups today. I can’t leave that out.
Day 5....
today is Saturday and I did 50 minutes of cardio with waist and arm work followed by stretches. I walked so much tonight at work I hit almost 16,000 steps on my pedometer. I’m eating healthy and feeling full of energy. I was also able to stop taking my Prilosec for acid stomach over the past 3 days.
I did 45 minutes of cardio dance with arm and waist exercises thrown in. I’m working on the long slow burn since I have a ways to go....I love dancing and moving though It makes me feel so good to have taken my life from this:
I’m going to keep moving. My weight is starting to melt away; 236 ~ 225 ~ 155 I’m clicking and it feels good. Baby steps will get me there.... consistency over time. the key is the night eating. I’ve always known the solution just following through was the problem. It’s all doable....
Day 7....was a rest day but I worked and ran around on the floor all night so I racked up the miles and steps on my pedometer It’s just not measurable in the average way. I am a veggie tonight it has been a long work week for me and I’m glad to have a few days off.
Day 8.....Tuesday. I was sooooo tired today and it was so hot, there it is life getting in the way, Blah Blah Blah. But, and this is a very big but (no pun intended), I dragged myself to the ranch and did 47 minutes of a hike along the coast. I’m so proud of myself for not taking the day off even though I felt like I was dragging every step of the way.
What do you think about moving your workouts to the mornings when it’s cooler? I know, I snuck one in there, I’m a huge fan of morning workouts even though I’m the furthest thing from a morning person.
Day 9....Thanks girls....Mornings would be nice but I’m a swing shift person and I get home from work in the ER at around 12:30am. I wind down and go to bed at the earliest by 1:30am. I can get away with 7 hours sleep but feel better when I get 8 hours. the good thing about walking near the ocean is the fog rolls in around 6pm most of the time and I was actually wearing a sweatshirt while walking. It can be 100 during the day, and at night I’m sleeping with my down blanket and it’s 58 degrees. I believe the big change in temperatures is what makes me feel so dragged out in the heat of the day. That’s why today I took myself to the ocean and actually walked in the water and soft sand for my exercise. I got it done (40 minutes) a bit earlier in the day that way. The heat won’t last though, it’s very unusual.
Does anyone use those Kettlebells for a workout? I was looking at some different programs and wondering about the sizes. they seem to give a good work-out to the core. I have a right elbow and forearm problem that is starting to heal up. It’s been inflamed for about 3 weeks so I wouldn’t want to make it a chronic problem.
Don’t know much about the kettlebells. Did some internet reading on it after seeing some MTM people using them for their workouts. Check Deb’s 2008 in the 100 days of Exercise Challenge. She’s been working with the kettlebells for several weeks now and knows quite a bit about it. I asked her about it today. Her reply was really informative.
I haven’t used kettlebells either, but Deb has me about convinced to give them a try. A friend of mine lost a bunch of weight and built a bunch of muscle with them - and he’s kept it up for a few years now with them. Check out some youtube videos too. Good job on your workouts - soft sand, that’ll get the heart rate up!
