I never go to the dealership.  I won’t wait two weeks for an oil change or pay 400 bucks for a brake job.  I usually go to a local garage for all my needs. The mechanic there is awesome, and I’ve never had to wait for more than a day to get in.

Glad to hear your rib isn’t bugging you too much.

I know.. I know… I never have a problem getting in when I need to and today’s break job was not done “through” the dealership - just “at” the dealership.  I paid him cash “under the table”.  I’ve known this guy for years and I trust him.  I didn’t pay $400 for the job.  I paid for parts and reasonable price for his time.

Catherine great job on the swim, actually you need to eat after your workout, usually some fat and protein it stop you from going catabolic. This very important especially after big workouts when your muscles are trying to re-build themselves.

Are those your kitties? They are so cute. I got Baby Dog my Great Dane a kitty to keep him company and they are so happy together. I’ve always been a dog person but I’m learning to love Kitty. She is so interesting and curious.

Have a great day! Hang out with a friend.

Thanks Shawn - I usually have a protein shake after my workouts - I’ve been doing a bit of research into Soy vs. Whey protein powders recently and decided to switch to Whey for right after workouts. But I got a low carb version which I think was a mistake - so I’m mixing it with soy milk to get some carbs at the same time which also helps make it taste better. There should be a way to taste test these things before you buy - they come in such big tubs!!

Hey Denise - yah they are mine and I think they are just adorable. I posted 4 pictures of them on page 17 of my thread and another on page 20 with my nephew. Misha (on the left) is my very active and mischievous one. She gets into all sorts of trouble but she really is a sweaty- constantly looking for attention. She jumps into my arms from the floor and I have to be ready to catch her. One of her favourite tricks is to steal items of clothing, from socks to sweaters, from the laundry and bring them upstairs to me. Sometimes I wake up in the morning to find several items in front of my bedroom door!! The other, Nika, is much more your typical cat - happy to find a comfortable spot and sleep all day (hence she is much “rounder” than Misha!).

This morning I did a session of Self Myofascial Release using a foam roller. It really works well to get out some of the knots you normally can’t massage on yourself.  Certain spots are quite painful to roll on, but that just means it is working. My IT band and quads are still quite tight.
I dragged my feet getting to the gym and didn’t make it till late afternoon - just when it gets busy with everyone getting off of work. Even though there were lots of ladies it was not that difficult to get my workout (Chest & Quads Day) in since most of the exercises in my program don’t require specific machines. I think the only machine I used today was the leg press. I timed it well (not on purpose) so that I was just finishings my workout as an Awesome Abs class (15 min) was starting.  I decided to give this one a try - good class. The next class was BodyFlow (combination of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi) and since I didn’t really feel like doing an actual cardio session I stayed for that too (another hour!!) So today I’ve put in a lot of time and I’m feeling like I may need a low key day tomorrow. We’ll see how I feel for my planned cardio session - that will dictate how intense it is and possibly how long I go for.

I’ll have to look into that myofascial release, Catherine. Good stuff on the classes! I think I’m going to squeeze in a few vacation days just to start using them up (a problem for me, as I have no backup at work) on Fridays, and plan on trying various classes at the gym for the first time. I’m eager to try them but getting there on time, after work, on my two nights off Jz class is an issue.

I generally don’t like the crowds either, at the gym, but sometimes you do feed off the energy in the room!

Great workout’s Catherine. The myofascial release sounds very interesting.

Speaking of cats and their tricks, I had a cat in college that used to raid my panty drawer. If I left the drawer open a crack she would reach in and pull my panties out and scatter them all over the floor and everywhere! I never knew exactly what to expect when I got home but I sure had a lot of fun explaining the mess to my guests when they accompanied me home!  tongue wink

I won’t let mine sleep with me - they get locked out.

Ok - yesterday was a lazy day - I didn’t do any formal exercise = Rest day. However I was babysitting my nephew for a few hours and spent quite a while playing chase around the livingroom and kitchen. Don’t know how many laps I did, but Matthew did more than me!! I also practiced some more child tossing (what exercise is that equivalent to?? a clean and press??) - which is getting more challenging - he weighs almost 35 lbs.

This morning I visited my chiro and he immediately identified two ribs that were out of place . He was surprised that I figured out what it was on Sunday morning.

After I hit the gym for a good workout - Warm up =- 10 min on the bike - a bit of stretching then Back and Hams routine. Not feeling really strong these days. I seams I am getting weaker on hamstring curls. Have to make sure I am getting enough veggies. Had another really good stretching session before I got on the crossramp for 30 min of cardio ( HR 130- 140). Now I really want to have a shower, but got home to discover some construction going on and the shower is “closed” for 24 hours. Hope people here don’t mind if I am a bit smelly!!

I had an off weekend ... now it is time to get back on track.

Tonight I went to swim practice. It was a bit on the cool side tonight so there were fewer swimmers and I ended up with a lane all to myself… I would have preferred to have someone to try to keep up with. I really was the slowest person in the pool tonight. Completed 2.4 km. Lost a bit of time because I had to take a ___ break at one point. (I’m sure you can fill in the blank.) The fast swimmers swim anywhere from 4 to 6 km in a practice. My goal is to break the 3 km mark one night soon!! If I make it to a Sat AM practice maybe I will then - the practice is a bit longer so I’d have more time.

Going to do some stretching (yoga) and foam rolling before I go to bed tonight.

Got to the gym today. (first time since Friday...!) Shoulders. Arms and Legs Day + 40 min Cardio on the elliptical and stretching. Upped the weight on the barbell exercises.

We are officially on Baby watch. My SIL is in the early stages of labour… I have a feeling we will get called to the hospital this evening or during the night. I plan to have a nap so if we get called it won’t be an all nighter!!

You’re doing great Catherine!  Congratulations on the new baby coming!  I just went through the all night hospital thing with my nephew coming last month.  I wish I would have brought my walking shoes to walk around the hospital.  It can get boring..... waiting for those cute things!

I’M A AUNT!! Ryan Peter was born at 12:57 PM today. Pictures to follow tomorrow once I’ve had a change to sift through and edit.

Now I’m exhausted and ready for bed. Was at the hospital early today and only had about 5 hrs of sleep.

Got to the gym late this afternoon and did my requisite hour of cardio but it was VSLB. I listened to a Quirks and Quarks Podcast - maybe I should have put some tunes on because I couldn’t keep my HR in my training zone…
Stretched then did the Awesome Abs class (15 min).

I’m yawning like crazy as I type this so I’m going to turn in early.
