Yep, he left the house this morning with his pedometer on his belt.  I have to keep my exuberance under control--he doesn’t like to be noticed with this sort of thing, so I won’t ask any questions.  zipper

Interesting eating day yesterday. I did A LOT of moving.  I was feeling really good--the neck muscles were doing very well, and my porch and porch furniture needed to be spring cleaned. I had the time and the motivation, so I got to it.  I spent about 3 and 1/2- 4 hours cleaning the furniture, sweeping the porch floors, and then topped it off with cleaning the walls/siding with chlorox and water.

Because of my constant movement, I was more hungry than I normally am, and I ate small meals throughout the day. But my mistake was that I didn’t journal my food.  I must have eaten more than I thought because when I weighed myself this morning, I was up a pound.  Could be water weight? Who knows what is going on.  But it messes with my head.

Today will be a challenge for me. I am in a lot of PAIN from my overdoing it yesterday. The scale showed movement in the wrong direction, which is playing games with my head. I am going to two graduation parties this evening.  I need to eat, but I won’t be moving as much because I need to take a rest day to get this pain under control.

I am open to suggestions.  I know I will need support today.
Thanks!

Drink lots of water and see if you can flush out your system. Otherwise, keep eating smaller meals and see what the scale says tomorrow.

Did you have more salt than normal yesterday? That’ll get me every time. Graduation parties can be dangerous, and life is short, so what I’d suggest is to allow a small indulgence at each party. Pick out 1 thing you really want to try, and go for it, in an appropriate serving size.

If the scale is up more tomorrow, go with fruits and veggies all day. It helps detox.

Thanks, Bree.
I did well at the parties. I ate only fruit at the first one, and a small piece of lasagne (2"x3") and a small salad at the second party. Only water or diet decaf iced tea.  I tried to focus on the social time and not on the food. I really wasn’t terribly hungry at the first party, so the fruit was a good choice.
The scale was a little better today, but not back to “normal.” I think sodium from the previous evening was the culprit.  Still trying to detox.
Thanks so much for your suggestions.

So, I’m making good progress with my eating and exercise. I am up to 21 consistent days since the click, and feeling really good each day. No new movement on the scale, but I will stay the course!!! I look forward to the day when I look at the scale and am rewarded with a “wow!” moment.

I had an hour last night where all I could think about was food. I couldn’t get my mind off food! I was comfortable--a 4 on the 10 point hunger scale, but I wanted to eat! Boredom? Need for a particular texture in my mouth?  I’m not sure, but I had a sugar free eclair pudding-ish dessert thing, and enjoyed every moment of it.  Then I felt better and was able to relax. It didn’t lead to another binge, which was good.

I only logged 7040 steps yesterday--I think my pedometer must have been situated wrong because I did a 75 minute cardio workout on the treadmill, which usually takes care of more of my daily steps.  I’m not sure what happened, but I looked at the other indicator of my success--my workout--and chalked off my low number of steps to a malfunctioning pedometer.

We’re in our last day of a 5 day heat spell, so hopefully tomorrow morning I will be able to do my walk on the track in the park. Today will be on the treadmill in the basement.  Better than melting!

Thanks for reading.

So I’m making great progress. Today is DAY 22 and I got amazing news from my doctor this morning.  I had blood work done on Monday. I’m on cholesterol medicine, and my ultimate goal is to get off of it soon after I’ve reached my goal weight. That’s a long way off, but today’s news was as good as losing 20 lbs for what it did for my head. Read on…

When I went on cholesterol medicine, my total cholesterol was 300.  Ugh. I asked my physician to give me three months to see what I could do on my own with diet and exercise (this was way before my click--about a year ago).  I was able to get it down to 269 on my own. Not nearly enough, but a good try.

On meds I was able to get it down to 169, which was very good.

Since I started my 100 days of exercise and my eating plan, my new numbers are...(drum roll please)…
Total Cholesterol 143
HDL 39 (desirable range is between 40 and 95)
LDL 81 (goal is below 130).
The nurse delivering the news was ecstatic, and she said my doctor was thrilled!  I AM THRILLED!
Like I said, today’s news was as good as losing 20 lbs for what it did for my head!

Count this as more motivation. I am a happy twit this morning! Off to download more podcasts and to hit the treadmill.
THanks for reading!

That is good news!!  Way to go!!

I had a doctors appt a few weeks ago and for the first time in several years my Blood Pressure was well in the normal range.  I have been border line high in the past.  Not enough for medication, but where my doc wanted to monitor it.  I was so happy to know it is now not an issue!!

Hey all---I’m back from vacation. It’s been a while since I’ve journaled here, and “life got in the way.” Basically, if I am true to myself, what I really should say is that I failed to “do my homework” and things began to snowball, allowing all life’s routines and callings to overtake what I really wanted for myself, which was to stay the course and keep moving forward, one step at a time. So today I’m reflecting, and attempting to learn from experience, which is what I need to do in order to be successful in meeting my health and weight loss goals.

My husband and I had a good discussion on the way back from Cape Cod yesterday--about vacations, losing routines, taking that “time off” from dieting and exercising. We concluded that had I verbalized to him my “plan” for the week, that was, continuing my 10,000 plus steps, my daily 60-75 walk (on the rail trail), and my eating plan, he would have joined me and done it with me. Instead, I didn’t verbalize it, and I ended up not doing what I had planned. Instead, I stopped wearing my pedometer after several days of too little moving.

I did manage one day of 13,000 steps, and one day of 3 hours of biking on the rail trail. Not great, but better than nothing I suppose. So I will count those two days as DAY 32 and 33, and begin today as DAY 34.  That feels like a decent compromise. I don’t want to count all those days in between as “rest days,” and I don’t want to lose sight of the fact that I had so many good days previously in my 100 days journey.

So today I am back, and I’m heading to the track before going off to physical therapy. I’ve downloaded my MTM podcasts and updated my iPod, so I’m ready to fully get back in the swing. “Why would I stop before I got what I wanted,” right?

Thanks for keeping tabs on me. I’ll see you on the boards regularly again.

Welcome back Kris!
Great to see you around.

I am so impressed with your ability to count the two days, skip those rest days and continue.
Kudos to you!!!
