Good job! I was going to do mine, but then it rained. Maybe it’ll dry out enough by this evening. Of course, the riding mower doesn’t exactly count as yardio. But its good therapy.

Round 2, day 3 - 3 mile walk was going to skip it because I had a killer headache but took some ibuprofin and took it easy and felt better by the time I finished.

Round2, Day 4 - 3+ mile walk outside.

I got the Master Vault DVDs and have been listening to the old MTM shows.  It got me motivated to finish my living room.  I painted it about 2 months ago.  It had been a blue before and I painted a sand color. Once I finished the walls I could see all the blue on the ceiling where the previous owners had not been too neat in painting.  So I told myself I needed to touch up the ceiling.  I also had pulled off some old molding that I wanted to replace.  I had some new molding in the basement, I just needed to cut it to size and stain it.  So as I said, this was two months ago and I kept saying every weekend that I needed to finish up.  Well, I finally did it today.

R2, Day 5 - about 3.2 mile walk.  Kicked up the intensity a bit in the first couple miles but dragged the last mile.

Good Job Eileen.  The important thing is that you got out there and completed it!!

Way to go finishing up the living room.  I can understand how home improvement projects can fall by the wayside.  I have been meanign to re-organize my closets for months now, but it has not happened.  I’ll have lots of time on my hands in a few weekds so maybe then.

R2, Day 7 - Planned rest day
R2, Day 8 - Hour walk - today there were 2 beavers swimming around in the wetlands I walk by.  The other day there was a Canada goose family - mama, papa and 6 babies.

Ohh… I gotta get out and see some nature!!  Time to get out of the city!  Maybe next weekend - the weather is not cooperating for that right now.

Sounds like you enjoyed your walks - good job!

The wetlands that I walk by are actually along the side of a pretty busy road.  I walk on the recreation/bike path also along the road. So it is nice that the city has preserved the wetlands so we can see beavers and geese and egrets, etc.  (I say city because officially we are a city but we only have a population of 16,500) We are a combination of suburb and rural.  And when I say suburb, I mean we are next to the largest city in Vermont, Burlington, which has a population of about 40,000.  So, it doesn’t quite compare to Toronto, but it is big enough for me.

This morning I woke up to rain, so I am going to take care of some housework and hopefully it will clear up later and I can get out for a walk.

The rain went away late afternoon and the sun came out so I was able to get out for my walk- 1 hour 20 minutes.

I took a different route today - one a little longer and it had a couple hills.  The hills reminded me that I still have a way to go.  I’m going to have to do the hills at least once a week to challenge myself and to see my improvement.

Hey Eileen - it is nice to have some green space nearby.  Hills are a great way to increase the intensity!

There is a ravine with a bike path that I could walk in, but I would only go there during the day on my own.  I know of some forests about 40 minutes north of that I like to go hiking in.  I should dog nap my SIL’s border collie and go one day soon.

R2-Day 10 - Challenged myself today.  I walked to my sister’s house, rested for 30 minutes, then walked back home.  That was for a total of 12 miles, over 20,000 steps.  The walk to took about 2 hours, the walk back about 2 1/2 hours as I was going a little slower and stopped to rest a couple times.  My legs were very tired by the time I got home but I felt good that I did it.  Yay Me!  grin

R2 D11 - was tired today after my long walk yesterday.  I was yawning the whole last hour at work.  So I was going to take a rest day.  But it was so nice out I decided to just take a short walk.  So I walked to the local sandwich shop and picked up a turkey sandwich (1/2 for dinner, 1/2 for lunch tomorrow).  It was 20 minutes each way.

Just a quick note to explain why I’ve been away for a few days.  On Tuesday I left for work at 7:30 in the morning.  I got home from work on Wednesday at 7:30 at night.  One of our computers at work that is used to service our customers crashed and we had to switch everything over to another computer and get everything running again.  During that 36 hours I got no sleep, my diet consisted of 2 slices of cold pizza, a Kit Kat bar, a turkey sandwich, a cookie and 1 diet Pepsi.  Fortunately, things were doing okay at work so I didn’t have to go into today.  I have spent the day reading and dozing.  I did get out for a walk just to move my muscles after sitting at a computer for most of the 36 hours.  But I ran out of energy and only lasted 30 minutes.

Tomorrow after another good night’s sleep I will be back to my regular routine.

That does not sound like fun last few days.  Catch up on your sleep first… you don’t want to get sick.  Also be sure to get some good nutrution.

Take care.

I was not able to get a good night’s sleep last night.  Even though I was dead tired I couldn’t fall asleep.  I finally took some Advil PM sometime around midnight and then it still took a while to drop off.  So anyway, that lead to a headache today that didn’t want to go away and still hasn’t.  But I did go out and mow my front lawn after work and did some weeding so did do some moving.

R2 D16 - Yardio 1 hour mowing the lawn.  It hit 90 degrees today so I waited until the back yard was in the shade.

Still at 90 so decided to do the treadmill since that is in my basement and about 20 degrees cooler though that didn’t keep me from sweating.  Did 60 minutes LSB.

Well after months of trying to fit resistance training into my home workout I gave up and joined a gym.  I went to Planet Fitness after work tonight and signed up.  I figure for $10 a month it was worth a try.  I probably won’t get a chance until Saturday to meet with one of the trainers to learn the machines and all but I will probably go at least once before that and check them out on my own.

My plan is to go there 2 or 3 times a week for resistance training and keep up with my walking on the other days.  We will see how it goes.

Edit: It was still 87 degrees at 7 pm so I went downstairs and did the treadmill again, this time I used a fan so it was much better.  Did 55 minutes LSB.
