I like the overall tone of your post!  Graditude.... for being able to work two jobs and to be able to ride centuries!

It’s great seeing such a great attitude!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Great answer! Why, how, where, when, and what kind of crap you have to get through to work out are key. You have the answers, you know the importance, and you do it! That is wonderful, and with 2 jobs and all the other regular life stuff, commendable! I have a hard enough time scheduling with being off for the summer, you are an inspiration.

Keep up the wonderful job!

Thank you Bree and Tom I am grateful. Truly!!!!!  But my key is to keep at it ...... and watch the food intake and hope the click comes (it will! I know it will!) ... but I am moving forward.

Just marked off my “tuesday workout” on my hot pink post it! I’m moving right along! Mission accomplished so far for the week!

I had a little blip in the radar today.  But I think I handled it quite well. Quick background: I’m the classic “been overweight all my life” case, etc, etc.  Dh has never had to worry about his weight until lately. He’s run into someone who lost quite a bit of weight and evidently (I haven’t seen him) looks great!  Dh asked him how and he said, “Cut out all bread, carbs, etc, etc.” so dh came home and declared that’s what WE have to do ... Ummmmmm..... Not really .... But everything in moderation .... sooooooooooooooooooo....

Today I had a craving for an ice cream cone. (I like chocolate dipped in chocolate. . . a childhood memory!) and go past this one particular stand all the time. I decided (Chose) to have it today .... count it, get it out of my system and carry on.  I have to do this for life.  If I don’t bring it into the house, I can’t binge on it. Sooooooo I stopped.

The old me would have NEVER told dh ... just don’t want to hear it, the shame, the embarrassment, the whole nine yards. But, this is the new me. It’s a stinkin’ little ice cream cone! lol ....  I tell him and of course he (thinking he’s supportive) goes into how I can’t have it ... blah, blah, blah .... Why do I try to talk diet, moderation, and exercise with him??? It just does NOT work. I know that.  I thought about NOT doing the treadmill and just going to bed, but decide NO! I have a commitment to myself and I NEED to get the rest of the workout in that I planned.  Just cuz I’m angry at him and his comments, doesn’t mean I have to punish me........

So, it’s logged, tracked and I got it out of my system. I have to learn to do this.  And if I even bring in Slim a Bear Klondike bars or Skinny Cows, the menfolk in my house eat them. Even when they KNOW it’s my diet food. arrrrrrrgggggggggggggg....... that makes me mad!

Anyway, that’s it. Little victory. One leads to another and another and another. I didn’t binge. I didn’t take it out on me. I spoke my mind and let it go. Now whether dh does or not is HIS problem, not mine! wink

Ok, I’m going to do it this time. Little by little.

I"m currently reading a book called Mindless Eating.  Quite interesting.

That’s it for this installment.
To the tub I go .... then a good night’s sleep .....

Wow, what a story Cleda! You absolutely did the right thing. You chose the treat. You worked it out on the treadmill.  You keep doing what you’re doing, and when you dh sees your body changing, he will realize that what you are doing works too.  BTW, is your dh overweight?

I am tired. And for me, this means:

RED FLAG

So, this means that I need to go upstairs and get some sleep!!!! wink

Kris: Dh is not really overweight. Well, maybe could use to lose his belly. Maybe 20 lbs. But has never had to diet or watch what he eats. His idea of diet is to cut down from a bag of chips to half a bag! wink He doesn’t really understand calories or anything like that.

I have a successful day and am heading to bed to read.
Tomorrow starts a new day ... (Day #13 on the 100 day challenge).
My post it gives me a choice: make it a rest day and work out on Friday or workout tomorrow and Friday take a rest day. Hmmmmmmm....... Guess I’ll see how I feel when that alarm goes off at 5:00 a.m.!

In my best lullabye voice (which you can imagine as good since you’ve never heard me sing):
Go to sleep, and don’t eat
Tomorrow is the time for dining
when we dream, we are lean
and our thighs are never rubbing

Heehee, couldn’t resist.

It’s Friday .... and Scott’s Question: How do I want to feel on Monday should be first and foremost.

I am tired. I took a rest day yesterday. After coming home from job # 02, I went straight to bed last night. Didn’t stop at the computer, read forums, answer e-mails, straight to bed! Read a few pages in my current book and went to sleep.

Now I must get busy and work out before heading in to work(s). It is cruicial I get the endoprhins moving.

Busy weekend ahead. I work one job tomorrow, have a town fair tomorrow night (not sure I really want to go), and work all day Sunday.  Need to schedule the time to work out, focus on the long term goal and just do it.

Most important for now? Get the endorphins moving.
I’m off to the treadmill.

Life is about to begin .....

Ok, it’s Monday and I am exhausted, sore and don’t want to work out (wah!!!!!!!!!!!) .....
I will go and do 30 Day Shred before work and walk the dogs, that way at least I’ve done some movement.

I took a rest day yesterday, but the working 9 hours on my feet is tiring.  Next day off is Wed. and I can’t wait ....

Must . . .Keep . .. Moving . . . and focused!

This is the danger time. I’m at Day # 17 .... I am tired and sore.

Ok, I’m off to download the shows for the week and listen to them.

I will stay focused today and tomorrow.

Cleda,
Scott always says...how do I want to feel…

I view this, for me, in the long term....and make short term decisions to create the long term......

When I don’t feel like working out, I think about the long term… and it just ‘clicks’ ..."oh yeah, i remember’

Your doing great, and I think you see the benefits from looking at the longer view....

Keep it up… know the soreness will pass, and your fitness will allow you to stay focused for many years to come!

Wednesday ...... I am back on track.
I was just plain tired. and when I’m tired .... danger will robinson! danger.

Eating was not good.
I did not exercise.

Today I came back and did 31 miles on the bike. Felt great. Would have gone longer if only time permitted.
But it didn’t ....

Listened to quite a few of this week’s podcasts ..... and it was good to listen.
Plodding along!

Tom: I DO have to work on the long term, but honestly for now? I need to just keep moving and string one good meal along with another and then one good day along with another and see how I do!

I have a LONG road ahead of me. I track my weight (Daily) in a program called Weight Ware. I hadn’t filled it out for the whole month of July, even though I had tracked my weight on my hand written calendar where I mark my workouts. So, I went back and put in all the weights. It has little arrows that indicate up and downward movement, but more importantly for me it talks about “trends”. I can then detach myself from the number (while still watching the food intake) and see that one day a disaster does not make. That some days are hungrier than others etc.  It has graphs and charts and all that good stuff for visual people like myself!!!!

I am working on getting in more protein, taking my vitamins, and controlling the binges. Easier to do when the hunger is satiated with protein! (Small goals I suppose!)

I like to start the day off (cuz I HATE breakfast) ... with a whey protein shake, lite soy milk, frozen fruit of choice, sometimes yogurt and water ... it gets it in and helps me.  Imagine my HORRORS when my Magic Bullet base blender broke. OH NO!!!  I have a second bottom for it, so I have been using that and will find out if I can get a replacement part. Like dh says, “I’ve worn it out .......”

I’m journaling in a journal I picked up at Walmart. One side I’m listing the food (and WW points—how I originally lost 80 lbs. several years ago) .... and the other side I put plans, thoughts, whatevers.  I have 3 days in it so far. The scale has to move eventually and the click has to come eventually.  As much as I would love to join the Mastermind program, I"ll have to see how it pans out.  Might not be feasible, all things considered!  Only time will tell.  6 mos. would make a wonderful dent in the 100+ lbs. I have to go!

However, like Scott’s one show last week, ultimately it is up to ME to do this and take care of my self-esteem, etc, etc. .  I guess I started this week to see if I could stick with it, if I’m worth an investment (I know I am, but I think you all understand!) .....  Sooooooo it was “get serious” ...

Tomorrow night presents a challenge. . . . Dinner at the Olive Garden (I like creamy sauces—can we say fetticini alfredo?) ... I am going to skip the breadsticks, they don’t do it or me anyway ..... and I will check on the web to see the points/calories etc, of different dishes. I can eat out and do it wisely, not be deprived and be successful. One small success leads to another ... and another . . . and another.

Oh and I gave blood today, cuz I like to do that!!!  It’s a small gesture I can do ... I’m O negative and they love me! wink

If you made it this far: Thanx for listening to the babble.

Hey, Cleda. How’d you make out at Olive Garden? I can so relate to your journey....I am a WW Lifetime member, now 67 pounds past my WW goal weight.  But you know, I’m well past beating myself up over it because it does no good. I was pleased last night (our last night of vacation--you know the last meal before you “get back on track?"--this was the first time I can remember that I didn’t have the attitude that I should go for one last splurge because I would start the “diet” tomorrow. I actually ordered a Steakhouse Salad (at Outback) and enjoyed an unsweetened iced tea and a moderate amount of bread.  It was a wonderfully satisfying meal, and I woke up this morning feeling good. I ate my mini-wheats and soy milk this morning, went for my 62 minute walk on the track, and am now back to MTM land.

Let me know how you’re making out---like you said, good, bad, or ugly--it’s a process, so stay accountable.
Looking forward to reading more about your journey....
